May 9, 2023: The Villain

Some days there isn’t a whole lot to talk about, but we figure it out. Monday night was NOT one of those days. We’ve already celebrated the #1 overall pick that the Blackhawks snagged during the NHL draft lottery. At Wrigley Field, we welcomed back a 2016 hero; Willson Contreras made his first appearance at Wrigley in another uniform.

Were you booing or cheering? I was cheering. Look, he was part of the 2016 World Series Champion Chicago Cubs; ’nuff said. If you didn’t like how he played when he was here, I don’t know what to tell you. As the years went by after the title run, Willson was one guy that you could count on to have a pulse; he played hard, sometimes stupid, but always hard, and always wore his heart on his sleeve. I respect that 100%. So yeah, I was cheering; I was clapping my hands as he came up to the plate for his first AB; that is where it ended.

He’s not on the Cubs any more. IF he was on another team, I may still be cheering for him. However… he chose to go to the Cardinals; sorry, can’t cheer for you man, especially when you’re playing against us. So after you hit that single to lead off the 2nd inning, I was done clapping; once I saw you raise your hands and play to the crowd after your hit… and then again after your RBI double later in the game… I was annoyed. So that’s what you have to do? Of course, because you’re with the Red Turds, and because of some of the comments you’ve made, THIS is why you heard some boos; you have a part to play in this too. Yet, peeling the onion all the way back, the guys we should be booing are in the front office. WE chose to not sign him; what was Willson supposed to do? Well, I would have liked him to go to literally any other team, but… he’s got to do what’s best for him, since his team didn’t want him any more; it’s not his fault, right? Still, playing it up like a WWE villain??? OK…

Look, nothing is going to change 2016; I will ALWAYS love Willson. But now? I wouldn’t have one problem if we send a message via a fastball to the ribs the next time he does that shit; what’s fair is fair. If you want to play it up, throw it back in our faces, talk about how great it is over in St. Loushit, then so be it; when you get buzzed or plunked, understand it. By the way, I didn’t see you out on the field Willson? You’re not catching any more? What’s up with that? And yeah, you got the better of us on Monday night in Wrigley, but what’s that flag flying at the bottom of our division??? Sure looks like your current team, where things were going to be so much better. Good luck with it.

I knew he’d step up his game against us, problem is, you play 140 or so games against OTHER teams; how you going to get up for those? I know, playing for the St. Louis fans, the best fans in baseball… (just threw up in my mouth) should be enough, but… let me know how that goes. Because when you were here, you were loved; just remember… it wasn’t OUR fault either. Good luck Willson, but not tonight, not tonight, not ever as long as you’re wearing that uni… Before and after you… Go Cubs!!!
