After 32 games, the Cubs are a 500 team.  It’s ok.  Breathe.  They just won the 2nd game of the doubleheader and are now 1 game over 500!!!

They recovered from getting pounded in the first half of the doubleheader in Colorado.  And now, they are 17-16.  Last year, when the Cubs reached 16 losses, guess how many wins they had?  40.  So they’re about to embark on a 24 game winning streak…  1 down, 23 to go.

Jake wasn’t good…again.  He says he isn’t, but do you think he’s pressing because it’s his contract year?  You think the fact that this could be his last year in a Cubs uniform is on his mind?  Regardless of the last couple years of his performance on the mound, he is only human.  Or, is he just returning to a normal sort of level?  Jake the Great was great, but maybe he’s not that great in the long term?  Not sure… there is something going on there.  I still believe in Jake.  He needs to be that Jake if the Cubs want any chance of repeating.  But, it does bring me back to the point I made the other day.

The Cubs biggest need is starting pitching.  Yes, Lackey came through with a big time performance in the night cap, but I really don’t trust him.  Our 5th spot is up in the air.  Lester, Arrieta, and Hendricks have to be counted on; let’s throw somebody else in there with those 3.  Someone that will make the ranking of our new top 4 pitchers difficult.  A young arm, who is locked up, or who we can lock up for a number of years.  Where can we find somebody like that?

The Quintana to the Cubs trade talk has begun again.  Not sure if that talk is being had between the respective GMs, but fans sure are talking about it.  The question would be, what is the right price?  I’m sure the Sox are going to want to get over, and I’m sure Theo will not be cheated.  We may have a stall in the negotiations.  But, if I was the mediator, here’s what we can agree on.
The importance of hits for the success of companies has risen in sectors such as levitra tablet the following: automobiles, food, grooming, hotels, construction, entertainment electronics, software, and the list goes on. There is no shortage of prospects in the Cubs organization; something the White Sox have improved on, and should be looking to continue to improve on.  It really is a good match.  Happ would be a guy to throw in there for Quintana.  I believe he can be the center piece from the Cubs side.  Why not?  The Sox traded Sale, who is better than Quintana, for nobody who was major league ready right now.  Yeah, I know… Moncada has been tearing it up, and as soon as the service time date is reached, he’ll be here.  And yes, Giolito pitched a bit in the majors last year, but the fact remains:  Sale was traded for top prospects… not major league proven talent.

So, if they were willing to do that with Sale, then why not Quintana… and then, why not Happ?  Do the Cubs have to throw in Candelario?  Sure, why not.  Let’s make a deal.

It will help the Sox future plan, and it will help the chance of the Cubs repeating.  Unfortunately, there are some, that may value preventing the Cubs from winning over improving the Sox roster.  Whether that is in the Sox organization or not… whether they will admit it or not… there are people who think that way.  The hate for the Cubs is greater than the love for their own team; pretty sad if you ask me.

But let’s assume Rick is not that guy, and that Jerry or Kenny won’t interject that in any way, this is a deal that should get done.  The Sox are a 500 team at best this year; the Cubs, regardless of their start, will be contending for the playoffs again.  This trade would help both sides.  Let’s make it happen.

Cubs are playing .500 ball thus far. Is this what we expected? Probably not as expectations after winning the World Series were at an all time high. Honestly, I will take it. Things could be worse. The Cubs best ball is ahead of them. Will they need help? Sure, another starter would be great. Quintana? What a lefty combo that would be with Lester! Quintana and sale to him and Lester? Who knows. Thing is, the Cubs have the pieces to make a move or two, if need be, and if the price is right. Will they? Check back in 3 months. By then, the Cubs should be in first place with a nice lead. Relax and enjoy being Champs! Titles are not won in April and May. GO CUBS GO!!!
