May 6, 2019: Classic Let Down

posted in: Cubs | 0

Seven games in a row. Just finishing a sweep against your rivals. This sweep which lifted the Cubs to first place in the division. The lowly Marlins coming into town. Yep, if there was a classic let down situation, this was it. When they asked Joe about it before the game, he said he felt like the guys were past that; I kind of felt that same way too. The game started off well enough.

Rizzo with #200 in his career gave the Cubs the early lead. The Marlins would battle back, and tie it up, before the Cubs pulled ahead by a run heading into the 9th. And in came Strop…

It’s been a long and winding road with Strop. I never trusted him. Flash back a few years ago, and he would be the one guy I would have liked to get rid of in the bullpen. In the last couple years after the World Series year, where Joe didn’t trust him, I began to appreciate Pedro. Looking at his numbers… good God. He really is one of the best Cubs relievers of all time… no joke. He just shut down the Cards on Saturday night. I just read his updated career stats on Twitter earlier in the day. Surely he would come out and shut the door on the Marlins. Well, mama said there’d be days like this… It was pure ugliness. He didn’t get one out. He couldn’t find the plate. He set the table for a 3 run inning for the Marlins. Did he just fall out of my circle of trust again? Nah… everybody gets a mulligan right?

On the other end of the classification scale are Class IV and V drugs which have very low potential abuse, have very low possibility they can become addicting and they also have one or more current medical treatment uses in tadalafil uk buy the US and elsewhere. These factors include both physical browse content generic levitra andpsychological reasons. This has its basis in the genetic make up of man in his quest for dominance and perpetuation of generic viagra online http://pamelaannschoolofdance.com/aid-2665 the species with his genes. The other crazy part of the inning is how the Marlins scored their final run, which would serve as the game winner. 2nd and 3rd, 1 out, ground ball right back to the pitcher. He had the guy hung out between 3rd and home. He looked at him…. throw the ball to home…. walk towards him… what are you doing? No, no… don’t throw to first. Wow. I was just stunned. What a total brain cramp. You cannot at any cost let that run score. Ryan has been pretty good overall though. I guess this is the game of mulligans…

The game wasn’t over yet though. When I saw who was coming in, I felt confident. This confidence comes from past success against Sergio Romo. A certain Game 4 in the 2016 NLDS ring a bell for anyone? When Bryant went way out to pull us within 1, I was sure we would tie this thing up, and eventually win it. Rizzo did reach, but then Baez and Contreras went down swinging. Damn.

Can’t win them all they say. And with the Cardinals winning, our reign atop the division ended quickly. Well, back to it on Tuesday night vs the Fish. Hope for some better results. This worst team in the NL certainly can’t beat us 2 nights in a row, right? Go Cubs!
