The Sox beat the Cubs again on Wednesday night at Wrigley to complete the two game sweep. That got me thinking… should winning two games really constitute a sweep? As I try to make myself feel better, my initial thought is no. Great, you won 2 games in a row; congratulations. Secondly, why the heck are there 2 game series to begin with? That’s just stupid IMO. But sure enough… after the series, everybody is saying the Sox “swept” the Cubs. Does anybody else think winning both games in a 2 game series should NOT be considered a sweep?
Like I said, I’m just trying to make myself feel better. It sucks to lose; it sucks to lose to the Sox. It sucks to suck, but this is what we have to look forward to this year as Cubs fans. I’m just glad we can help our crosstown rivals, as these World Series favorites struggle to get back to 500; celebrate that Crosstown Cup boys… whoop it up! Make great memories, because most likely, this will be the only “title” you’ll be winning any time soon. I’m certainly not writing the Sox off; they certainly have enough talent on this squad to do some damage, but… somebody remind me again why they haven’t won a playoff series the past 2 seasons? The first year Renteria took the hit; last year… why do the Sox continue to roll Larussa out of his casket every game to manage? For all my dislike for Ozzie, he certainly would be a better choice to manage this team, no?
Anyways, Luis Robert made a nice catch on a Willson smash into deep center; bravo. But, was the falling back after the catch really necessary? I mean, you caught the ball… certainly did hit the brick wall, but then you stood up… so the catch and crash into the wall didn’t cause you to fall backwards. No, you did that just fine, then… you decided to fall backwards, playing this catch up more than it needed. Drama king anybody? I heard he does like to post shirtless photos of himself on Instagram… maybe he should focus on batting his weight first? What do I know… I do know that “flop” certainly looked “Lebron-esque”; I’m sure Robert would fit right in any soccer league around the world too with his dramatics. But, no, he’s a baseball player, and a damn good one, right? I heard we was the next coming… still waiting though.
Whew, OK, that made me feel a little better. Have to get some shit talking out against the 11-13 3rd place in a shitty division future 2022 World Series champions Chicago White Sox. Hey, if the Cubs ain’t winning anything, which they ain’t, then I’d rather not see the Sox do well either. Misery loves company right? Well, unfortunately for the Sox, they don’t get to play the Cubs more often, because this year, it would certainly help their chances. Congrats on the 2 game NON-series sweep; you really earned it… yawn… Now go back to underperforming against decent teams… until next time… and if the Cubs and Sox ever have the same record again in 2022… I can dream…
