May 3, 2019: Boylen Ball

Finally saw the Avengers End Game movie.  I would write a review on it, but don’t want to spoil it for those of you who have not seen it… although isn’t the “spoiler ban” over?  I think the actors can finally start talking about stuff from the movie.  I heard LeSean McCoy did some spoiling… didn’t see it specifically, but that’s a dick move, knowing how many millions of people out there want to see the flick.  A couple kids in my son’s class spoiled it for him… but at that age, they get a pass.  Still, we told my son to NOT spoil it for anybody else.  It was a great movie; there was one part I did not like… maybe talk for another day.

Back to our whip around check up on Chicago teams, on this day, the Bulls decided to give Jim Boylen and extension.  Yes, this is not a test.  Apparently, Jimmy boy already passed the test.  This is just mind boggling.  I mean, I get it… you want to have continuity… something that the Bulls are definitely lacking under the GarPax regime when it comes to the coaching staff.  So this is the answer I guess?  Extend a guy with no head coaching experience, who coached half a year, and didn’t do well at that?  Makes perfect sense.  Sad thing is:  there is no accountability for GarPax.  How many GMs get to hire coach after coach after coach and get to stick around themselves?  Whatever the cutoff should be, GarPax have exceeded it.  So while it amazes me that GarPax want to put all their eggs in Boylen’s basket… to rely on that guy to be THE coach that gets us to the next level… to put their jobs on the line with this decision…  it’s apparent that it doesn’t matter.  Who cares how Boylen does?  They justified the decision to ownership with the whole continuity thing, and if it doesn’t work, they get another chance?  When is enough enough?

I don’t want Boylen to fail.  I don’t think he’s that bad of a coach, like some other folks.  I just don’t think there was any reason to extend him… at least yet.  If he did well this upcoming year… Wait, we’re done tanking right?  There’s absolutely no reason to want to lose any more, correct?  I guess we should start there.  With another top pick, that should be enough, right?  I mean, speaking of the whole free agent thing a couple days ago, I can’t imagine any big name walking in the door.  And we better not sign any buster free agents like Wade, Rondo, or Parker.  I don’t want to sign Rose either.  Yes, the 8 year anniversary of his MVP year is upon us… man how time flies.  And yes, although I don’t hate him, and I do wish him well, I’d rather not see him back on the Bulls.  Too much baggage there… too much history.  If the Bulls are looking forward, there is no reason to grab somebody from our past.  But knowing GarPax, who knows what the hell they’d do.  They’d think it would be another good PR move, and probably do it… idiots.

Are you ready for some Boylen Ball?   Did the details of the extension even come out?  Whatever… next big date is June 20th, when the draft will be held.  Probably won’t talk much Bulls or NBA before then… still haven’t watched any of the playoff action, although I am keeping tabs on it.  Waiting for the Warriors to lose…  Go Bulls!
