When is the last time a Minnesota team has won something? The Vikings have never won a Super Bowl. The North Stars are long gone; the Wild haven’t won anything. The Twins… yeah, it has to be them… from 30+ years ago right? The Timberwolves came into the series with the Mavericks as the favorites, but… after Sunday night’s loss, they are now down 3-0; looks like another Minnesota choke job to me.
I had resisted betting on this series… I actually liked Dallas in Game 1; I really liked Minnesota in Game 2. Stayed away. I couldn’t resist in Game 3. I took the T-Pups… full game, and in game at the half; maybe that’s why I’m extra pissed at them right now. Maybe it’s because I’m going to have to root for the Mavericks in the Finals against the Celtics? Maybe it’s all of the above… maybe I have more reasons.
Let’s start off with Anthony Edwards. Here comes the next guy compared to MJ… haha… we’ve seen this movie before. He looks the part, and according to some, may be Jordan’s biological son… haha. Yet, what the hell has he done this series? Keep MJ’s name out of your mouth, period. Sure, you won a big series; you took down the defending champs, but… now what? Come in as favorites over the Mavs, and… you’re tired in Game 1? Really? This dude is just another one that is NOT him… at least not yet. I know the comparisons with MJ are unfair; nobody can live up to that, but I get it… he is the gold standard. He is what everybody strives to be; be like mike all these years later is still running strong. Maybe “Ant” needs to drink some Gatorade instead of drinking Sprite with his ear buds on…
Rudy Gobert… the DPOY, remember? OK, full disclosure… I was on Wemby to win this award; I was pissed when Gobert won. Still, Rudy is a good defender, right? Well, how’s he doing in this series? Sure, I don’t expect him to guard Luka by himself at the three point stripe; he put Rudy on skates before hitting the game winner. But who can he guard? They had a backup guard break him down this game… seriously. But maybe it’s the coaching? I mean, why are you putting the “Stifle Tower” on guards on the perimeter? WTF?!?! How many times this series has that happened? Meanwhile, Luka and others are throwing up alley oops to the Mavs big men… and… where is Rudy?
OK, last point… Gafford and Derrick Jones Jr. Sure, I shouldn’t be mad at them, and I guess I’m not per se, but… these names ring a bell Bulls fans? Un-fricking-believable… yeah, the Bulls couldn’t have used either of these guys any more. They were discarded, and now… are flourishing. Talk about seeing this movie before… to top it all off, we get another example of how the Bulls got their heads up their asses… ugh!
So yeah, I’m pissed off… for all of the above. Down 3-0, you can put a fork in those Wolves. Thanks a lot Minnesota.
