Some people just don’t know how to accept a favor… Going back to my conversation with a Sox fan the other week, when the Cubs were playing the Indians. I told him, hey, even you’ll be rooting for the Cubs the next 2 games; he replied with “Go Indians”. Well, I’m not going to be that stupid. For the next 3 games, including last night against the Cardinals, I’ll be rooting for the White Sox.
Look, I get it. I’m not big on accepting favors either, for some strange reason. I’d rather do it myself; don’t ask for any help. That feels normal to me, but it doesn’t mean it’s smart; I’ve been known to not exactly think the smartest about things. But for me, it’s as easy as this: I root for 2 teams… the Cubs and whoever the Cardinals are playing. This is the rule that applies here; it’s similar to rooting for the Bears and whoever is playing the Packers. However, on the flip side of town, for all those Sox fans who absolutely HATE the Cubs, it’s the Sox and whoever is playing the Cubs; talk about not being smart.
In the standings, the Cubs winning or losing has absolutely no relevance, unless of course they are playing an American League Central team, in which case, you should want them to win. But noooo… Sox fans would rather get the satisfaction of seeing the Cubs lose, even if that means losing a game in the standings; stick to your guns guys. It’s not really going to matter this year, as I mentioned previously. The AL Central is so pathetically weak, that regardless of how the Cubs do against those teams this year, the Sox are going to win the division anyways; if they don’t, the year would be labeled a complete failure in any sane fan’s mind. The question is how will the Sox fare when they have to play good teams outside the division, like the Yankees, who absolutely punched them in the mouth this past weekend. Long season, long season…

Sox fans don’t care though; they’d rather us NOT root for them. But just know this: by beating the Cardinals on Monday night, the Sox did the Cubs a HUGE favor. Knowing how some Sox fans think, as sick as it may sound, they’d probably almost rather lose against them then to help the Cubs; true statement. So that’s why I just wanted to take the time to say THANK YOU to the White Sox for a victory over the Cardinals on Monday night. You really helped the Cubs; that is very much appreciated. Now go out there and sweep their asses… the Cubs and all their fans would really appreciate it…
