Some more Bulls news hit the wire: DeMar DeRozan was named to the All NBA Second Team. I think that’s well deserved.

DD, Mid-Range Money… a couple nicknames that I came up with for DeMar this year. He was the #1 star on the Bulls this year, which was a bit surprising, right? I don’t think anybody could have predicted how huge DD was for us this year; I think most of us thought Zach would be the #1 star, right? It’s funny to see those rumors out there, where Zach wasn’t happy with taking a back seat to DD in that whole pecking order thing; I had mentioned that earlier this year too as a potential issue. Not sure how right I am, or how much truth there is to those rumors, but it is possible… My whole thing about Zach was that COULD he be that #1 guy. Jury is still out on that one.

Next question about DD is “can he repeat this performance?” He will be 33 years old before the next season starts, which is getting up there in NBA years right? How many more great years does he have in him? Either way you cut it, we need more than just DD. Back to Zach… he’ll be able to get more years and money staying in a Bulls uniform than anywhere else, so you’d think based on that he’d be back. Regardless of how they stack up next year and going forward, you need more than just one guy; two guys is better than one… three is better than two, etc. Zach is certainly more than capable of being that #2 and/or #1B. Staying here will give the Bulls that one-two punch stability at least for another year or two. Curious to see if there will be any decline in those mid range deposits in 2022-2023…

Teams adapted, like the Bucks in the playoffs. Double team DD and the Bulls really struggled to score. That’s when you turn to that 2nd star; that’s where Zach came up short, but… he was hurt, so… That’s tough right there. If Zach was 100%, how would that have turned out? Would the Bulls have been able to get past the Bucks? OR did we need a fully healthy Zach and Ball? Is Ball that #3? What about Vooch? Certainly Ball’s future is in question. Vooch will be turning 32 early next season. Is THIS Bulls team’s window closing quickly? What does the future hold?

Well, we talked about Ayo; he does/should have a place somewhere on this roster for the foreseeable future. If Ball doesn’t come back… If Zach leaves… This could be a one and done situation; that would be hard to swallow. I’d have to think AKME would do what they have to do to ensure this ISN’T the case. Signing Zach is the first priority to moving this playoff streak to 2… more work to get us further.

DeMar though… solid as a fricking rock. For a while there, legit MVP candidate. If he can come back anywhere near his performance this year, we’ll have a great starting point. Really loved DD this year; can’t wait to see more next year. Go Bulls!!!
