May 24, 2015: Just A Regular Old Game

posted in: Blackhawks | 1

If you watched Saturday night’s Blackhawks game, you know it was anything but just a regular old game. This series is turning into a classic, as the Hawks stood undefeated in overtime with a 5-4 win in double OT over the Ducks.

With this late early edition, I had multiple names picked out at different times of the game. Cruising was one. After a Toews then Seabrook goal to put the Hawks up 3-1 in the third, I thought this one was over.  Put in on cruise control and head back to California.  Well, not so fast.

The second title was 37 seconds. That was just flat out sickening. Three Ducks goals silenced the UC crowd and started giving me visions of the famous 17 seconds from the Hawks 2013 Cup, only this time, it would have not been awesome. The 3rd of those 3 goals even came after a Hawks timeout.

I had already used Battle Tested earlier in the week, but I think that’s a great was to describe these Hawks. They proved it again, picking themselves off the ice to tie this game and send it to OT. None other than 88 sent this game to extra sessions again with a power play goal that sneaked in. How long would this OT last?

The Omen Is Bad was another title I had in mind. Please tell me somebody saw Apocolypto…  When the jaguar mauled one of the guys chasing the main character named Jaguar Paw, those words were uttered. Well, after Shaw missed that goal off the crossbar, and then Sharp got stuffed on a breakaway, I started to think this. Even when Crow argued a call late in third as the Ducks almost scored the game winner, it all looked like it was going to add up to a Hawks loss, as the Ducks pelted him throughout the OT.

When Veremette scored the game winner, I thought of Validation. After a game where this prized acquisition was scratched in Game 3, he came back and scored the game winning goal in this playoff classic. He handled it well…both parts. His team and coach were very supportive too… And relieved too, just as some fans, that not only did the Hawks win, but it didn’t go more than two overtimes.

After all these name changes, and all the ups and downs, I thought this title was appropriate. Appropriate only in the way that it is a complete opposite way to describe this Game 4. This Hawks team has been the best conductor of this roller coaster ride. They’ve been the best because they come out on top more times than not. This series, this team, is no joke. The Ducks are very real, and may be the Hawks biggest challenge. What will happen in Game 5 is anybody’s guess, but I can tell you one thing for certain. It’s going to be another cliffhanger, that will include lead changes and momentum flips that will give you whiplash. I see OT before it’s all said and done. And before it’s all said and done, I just want to say thanks Hawks for the ride. It’s been phenomenal and will hopefully continue on for 6 more wins. Go Hawks!

What a game, what a series so far! The ducks are giving our Hawks all they can handle. Big time players make big time plays. Captain Toews had the go ahead goal in the 3rd…cant stand the kesler comparisons already. What has kesler done or won to be on Toews level? You won’t get in his head no matter how hard you try…Captain Serious has owned him at the dot, too. How about Seab’s goal or Saadman’s shorty (I called that one)? Our top line is deadly. Perry has been a beast for them! Crow stood tall when we needed him in the ot periods, just long enough for Vermette to score a much needed winner for the Hawks and himself! Back to cali even. Lets win game 5 and close out the ducks back at home! Wishful thinking it may be, but something tells me this series is going 7…no more predictions about that, though, since my Bulls game 7 talk blew up. Another Hawks winner in ot? We shall see…time for the Hawks to take the advantage in the series…GO HAWKS!!!
