May 20, 2015: Battle Tested

posted in: Blackhawks | 3

So did YOU stay up to watch the entire Hawks game?

OK, I’m going to come clean…  As documented in my in-game blog last night, I watched the 1st on TV, and the 2nd via ESPN gamecast.  I was primed to watch the 3rd period, and I did… well, most of it.  I passed out with about 5 minutes left…  I woke up in OT, and then passed out again.  I woke up about midway through 2OT, just in time to see the Hawks powerplay and disallowed Andrew Shaw headbutt goal.  The drama of that and the subsequent miraculous saves by Crawford kept me up from then on.  Between OTs I got up for a bathroom break, and turned the other TV on… I was locked and loaded from then on.

As they showed the longest games in Ducks history, I saw the 5OT game.  I thought, there’s no way I’ll be able to stay up that long.  Then they showed the longest games in Hawks history… and how this game had just trumped them all; it ended soon after that.

There is nobody that can say these Blackhawks are not battle tested.  They have been through some definite wars over the past number of years.  There have been some long OT games, some great comebacks, some nail biters, some awesome victories, and some gut wrenching defeats.  What is next for this club?

7 more wins hopefully is the answer.  7 more wins between May and June 2015 that is.  They evened the series at one with the Ducks in this historic game.  I wonder how many of them were sleeping on that flight home.  Can you imagine if they lost?  That would have felt like a trans world flight.
On the other hand, men enjoy strap ons too. canadian sildenafil Will no longer will certainly the lies, the covering of truth, the denial and the mind-boggling need to be regular win by means of. cheap cialis tadalafil cialis tadalafil It only focuses on making the person free from the potential side effects of drugs, which are common in allopathic oral drugs. I’m sure there were many tired people at work today.  Productivity I’m sure took a dip.  It was all worth it though, wasn’t it?  You know who else had to be exhausted:  Corey Crawford.  How many saves did he have?  60+ I think… a career high for him.  From what I saw in the 2nd OT and on, there were some 10 bellers.  He made some phenomenal saves to keep the Hawks in this game just long enough for Kruger to tap home the game winner.  Bow down to Crow!  This may be his finest game ever?

The Hawks had some great scoring chances in this one, as the Ducks goalie was pretty fricking good too.  I think the Ducks had the better of them, at least in the extra sessions.  Were you really worried if the Hawks DID lose this game?

I go back to the title of this blog again.  Although I remember what didn’t happen last year, I remember what DID happen twice before.  I remain confident in these guys.  I don’t think there is any hurdle they cannot overcome.  I’m just glad they didn’t dig that 2-0 hole.  I would have still felt OK, but how much better is it now that it’s 1-1.

Back to the UC on Thursday night is sure to bring another heavyweight battle.  Although it’s the usual suspects with the Hawks, there is always the chance that somebody else steps up and makes a big play, like Marcus-Freddy did last night.  I’d love to go to a playoff game… haven’t been all year.  Prices for the game Thursday…. yeah, too rich for my blood.  I’ll just sit down on the couch and watch TV, or in my son’s room on the iPhone, or lay down in the bed and watch that TV…  and just try to stay awake.  At this point, I should be… we ALL should be battle tested as well.  GO Hawks!!!

i disagree with your bad-mouthing timmonen in last nite’s post. his misplay did lead to a goal, but he certainly WAS NOT the only guy to look bad during that marathon. each and every one of the d-men had their moment that made you cringe, or at least those of us that stayed awake. the only difference was that one lead to a goal against, and the others were just o-zone turnovers that didn’t cost us anything. i think q needs to keep him in and make it a 3-team rotation on the d end. too much ice-time, and absorbing too many hits is taking a toll on the current d rotation. they are good, but it’s gonna take a toll. great game—great outcome—edge of the recliner many times.

6 dmen needed for sure. The top 4 are awesome but all of the minutes, hits, etc will take its toll. Sit timonen and start rundblad and cumiskey but pair them with one of the top 4.
Don’t think crow got enough credit for the awesome game he had. He won that game for the Hawks and will need to do so in upcoming games, too. Crow takes a lot of heat, from me included, but he was awesome last game.
What an awesome game, though! It would have been a tough loss. Now we are even and coming home. Time to get the UC rockin so the Hawks can sweep at home and get in the driver seat.
    GO HAWKS!!!

That announcer since directly next to the Ducks bench, that’s why he’s so one sided for them. Ducks 1st goal by Cogliano was lucky. Puck went off 2 skates, the last being Bickell’s. The Ducks are an excellent offensive team and have been playing well down the stretch. Most Ds are going to struggle some, no matter who’s out there. Getzlaf and Perry coming down together, Good Luck. This series is to see who takes the cup in my opinion. 6 periods, tired skaters, lactic acid city, anybody could look bad for a moment.
Crawford was awesome! and Chicago wanted his head 2 weeks ago. Silly fans. Go Hawks!
