There are a lot of things to worry about in Chicago sports. The Bears draft & future has to be up there. The Bulls direction. The Sox maintaining their hot start. Heck, even the Blackhawks future is less than comfortable. One thing that we shouldn’t be worried about, is the Cubs. Don’t be; I’m not worried.
What’s wrong with the Cubs? Why aren’t they blowing the doors off everybody? Why didn’t they start the season like last season? Why don’t they have a historical run differential? Why isn’t anybody hitting yet? Why can our pitchers not get out of the first inning? Seriously, relax.
Did you look at the standings? Yeah, so you’re worried about everything, and the Cubs are STILL in first place? I’m not sweating it. The Cubs simply have not hit their groove yet. This year is a different year than last year; we cannot compare. And seriously, we will NEVER be able to compare to the 2016 Cubs, you know what I mean?
I mean, the 2017 Cubs are coming off a historic high… the highest point ever for any Cubs team in our lifetimes. Playing in & winning Game 7 of the World Series is the ultimate, especially for this franchise. And now, it’s a return to normalcy; it’s a return to the grind. Only after another 162 games… 162 games!!! will the Cubs finally get a chance to match that intensity. Now, the Cubs have to make the playoffs of course…
And I think they will. I’m not worried about anyone in the Central; did you hear me St. Louis? I’m not worried about ANYBODY. As far as I’m concerned, the Cardinals are in our rear view for the foreseeable future, just like every other team in the Central. We are the class of the division hands down. Just wait until we start clicking…

I could see the Cubs ripping off 8 wins in a row… then maybe another 8 out of 10… then another streak of 9 out of 10 when it’s all said and done. That would be 25-3 over those 3 stretches. I don’t think it’s unreasonable. Yes, there will be stretches like this… like the one we’re currently in, where we’re sitting just above 500. But let’s keep in mind… we’ve only lost 2 series all year!!! So again, all this stuff to “worry about” and the Cubs have only lost 2 series.
Yes, I know.. we literally expected the Cubs to win every game this year. This dynasty in the making was going to come out and kick everybody’s ass in sight. It will still happen; stay tuned. And in the meantime, don’t worry.
That song couldn’t be more true, you know, don’t worry, be happy. The Cubs are the defending World Series champs; I don’t think I have to remind you of that. I think about it a lot, like every time I worry about something going on with the other Chicago sports teams. I just tell myself, the Cubs are World Series champs, the Cubs are World Series champs, and it’s all better.
What’s the worst case that could happen this year? The Cubs DON’T win the World Series? Yep, that’s where we’re at. Anything less than winning it all, will be considered a failure. How things have changed… and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. The expectations are sky high, rightfully so, and the Cubs will be right there when it’s all said and done. And even if they’re not, we won the World Series!!! Go Cubs!!!

A few years ago I described the CUBS team as a stew set to simmer. Wining the WS, that stew was ready and fed a LOT of hungry CUB fans. Well the pot is full again and the only thing I’m worried about is how Ian Happ will fit into the stew. This boy is ready to rumble!!
The Bucs, Brew-crew, Reds, and that “other Team” are nothing to be feared. They all have a long way to go. The Cubbies are built for the long haul and it hasn’t really warmed up yet. Barring 17 INJs at once, the CUBS should take the division with ease. One step at a time!!

Funny thing what winning a World Series does to people. Expectations for the Cubs are sky high. Keep in mind, this team is still young. Not even 30 games in and the Cubs are above .500 and in first place in the central. This would be aWesome in any other year prior to this one. Why worry now? If the Cubs were ravaged by injuries or 10 games under, maybe. Now? Please. Any other central team scaring anybody? Yeah, didnt think so. The Cubs will lose games. They will even lose series and maybe get swept from time to time. The Cubs will also win more series than not and sWeep aome bum teams. And at the end of the day, they will get hot and Win more games than they lose. Expectations high? Ok. Pressure high? Sure. Target on the Cubs back? Yep. Bring it. This is what we waited so long for. We finally feel what it means to be a Winner, loveable ones at that. That’s Cub! Embrace it. Revel in it. The fun is just beginning. GO CUBS GO!!!
