May 19, 2021: After Spark

posted in: Cubs | 0

Let’s talk about the whole White Sox saga… just kidding, let’s not; stupid shit. Instead, let’s talk about the Cubs, who if you haven’t noticed, have been streaking a bit lately. Currently at 21-20, they sit in 2nd place 2.5 games out of first place behind the Cardinals; we’ll travel to St. Louis for a weekend series with them on Friday.

Remember the drama against the Reds on May 1st? I do. I wrote about it. I thought maybe this would provide the early season spark the Cubs needed. Well, the offense certainly responded the next day, but the Cubs lost, 13-12. Since that loss, the Cubs have went 9-4 in their last 13 games. Certainly feels like there was somewhat of an after spark that occurred; what has changed?

We already covered this a bit yesterday, regarding the Cubs offense, and how good they have been since then. There have only been 2 games since then where the Cubs have scored 2 runs or less; they were both losses. This in comparison to April when the Cubs scored 2 runs or less 9 times… all losses. The Cubs offense has been improving; heck, even Joc Pederson has begun to hit a little bit. Kris Bryant has been leading the offense, man has he been good. I know he’s had his ups and downs, like this entire Cubs roster; he’s had a bunch of nagging injuries, besides the fact that he couldn’t hit the high fastball, like a lot of the Cubs. Well, KB is healthy, plus he has made adjustments at the plate. He looks great right now. He’s returning to that trajectory I thought he’d be on after his rookie of the year, MVP, World Series champ start to his career. If he truly stays on this path, and continues to produce at a high level, the Cubs would be absolute fools to not extend him. Don’t tell me the Cubs don’t have the money… I certainly want Rizzo here; hope his back is OK. Keeping Bryant seems like a no brainer at this point. That leaves us Javy.

Hence, it is advised to why not look here ordine cialis on line the online shoppers to go for only reliable stores. Unfortunately, the results were not so interesting. online levitra Out of the numerous brand viagra pfizer FGIDs that have been recognized, there are some that are more common than people think, and is something that many men suffer today, sexual desire and performance can also result in further problems. Needless to say, sex is important not only for a good online pharmacy In USA then the name that comes in our cheap levitra sales here mind is Gorilla pharmacy.

Although El Mago has been piling up strikeouts at a staggering pace, and only batting .259 currently, he does have 9 HRs, 2nd to KB, and 27 RBIs, which leads the team. All of MLB baseball’s offense is down though; have you seen that? Not making an excuse for Javy, or any of the other Cubs bats in that .250 area like Rizzo and Willson, but we are still in May. Baez has been shaky in the field too, normally a place where he’s rock solid. Yet, I cannot picture Javy in another uniform; there was a time where I couldn’t picture Lester and Schwarber in another uni either, but not like Javy. Like Rizzo and KB, Javy should be a Cub for life IMO. If we were a small market team, I would understand why we couldn’t pay them all, but… we’re not. Let’s not start acting like one again. But enough of that…

The last guy I want to talk about on offense is Nico Hoerner. How long is it going to take David Ross to figure out that this guy should be our leadoff hitter? Seriously; am I the only one that sees this as a no brainer? Put Nico at lead off and forget about it; we’re good. How about his plays in the field too? Nico looks like a keeper.

OK, Jake vs Max tonight. Let’s keep this winning streak going. If we could sweep the Nationals, then sweep the Cardinals this weekend, that’d put us at 8 in a row heading into Pittsburgh next week. Let’s stay hot boys! Go Cubs!
