How about those baseball teams? Cubs riding a six game win streak and the Sox winning four in a row gives Chicago baseball ten for ten in its last 10 games.
I love baseball. I hope my son likes to play, and maybe pitch like his pops. There’s just something pure about it. It’s a game that goes back a long ways. There’ve been many changes over the centuries, but it’s still very basic. Pitching and catching and hitting are still the name of the game. You need a combination of them all to be a winner.
This year is shaping up to be a good one. I’m not totally zoned in yet. Now that the Bulls are done, I’m a little closer. We still have the Hawks with the most important wins left to get out of our current teams. But I have been paying attention… I have been trying to catch as much as I can.
The Cubs swept the Mets and now have taken the first two from the Pirates. Couple things different about these Cubbies this year. The Pirates have owned us recently, but not so much this year. We’ve now put 4.5 games between us and the Bucs early on. Another thing has been the Cubs performance in one run games. They’ve won a major league leading 11 one run games. What a difference a year makes. Last year I wrote multiple times about the Cubs struggles in games decided by a run. They seemed so far back then, but maybe they were closer than we thought.

Don’t look now… The White Sox are almost .500. They’ve just beat the As to run their streak to four games. They still have 3 teams ahead of them in the division, but I think we can call off the Fire Ventura party. One recent move I didn’t quite get was the demotion of Micah Johnson, who seemed to be coming around. Maybe it was for his defense? The starting pitching has been very good as of late. Rodon had a tough time last night, but the other three lefties have pitched well. Now it’s time for Shark to step up.
For the Cubs, Jon Lester has put some good starts together to call off the Worst Contract Ever talks. I wasn’t worried. I’m feeling a little better about that jersey purchase now though… That lineup is starting to look more and more dangerous too. Even Addison Russell is starting to hit better. Now if only he can hold on to his bat when he swings and misses. He tried to take out another fan today. He’s been better on defense too. Lets remember this is not his natural position. He’s handled it pretty well for a 21 year old kid. Check the catch he made in the game today. Definite web gem.
In about 14 hours, the puck will drop in Anaheim, and the attention will shift back to the Hawks. Meanwhile, lets keep streaking boys, although I will definitely trade some Cubs losses for 8 more Hawks wins. Better yet, let the winning ways continue for all our current teams. I still need cheering up from the Bulls demise…
