There are ups, and there are downs… like anything… with sports betting. I’ve been in the middle of a big time cooler. My record for May has been 9-27… that’s good for taking my Draft Kings balance from $60 down to $3. It looks like it’s almost time for a break…
I’m a winner though. No, that’s not what I tell myself when I look in the mirror every morning, it’s just facts. I’ve already taken out my $100 “investment”, plus $250 of profit. So yeah, I have won money; I keep telling myself that during this losing streak. No matter what happens with this remaining $3, I won this round. If/when that last $3 is gone, I’ll be chilling until football season, when I will open a new account, take advantage of a new signup bonus, and try to win the next round with sports gambling. There are not a whole lot of rounds that I have won over the years, so this is a good thing.
What the heck happened though? How did I go in the tank like this in May? It’s a combination of things obviously. In short, I’ve lost my way on the NBA & NHL playoffs, constantly on the wrong side of things. The Knicks killed me; I thought they’d take care of the Heat for sure. After accounting for a few of my wins in Game 2, the Knicks were a drain on my account. Actually, I salvaged something from my $20 series bet, cashing out after their Game 5 win for $8.40. I did this because I thought they were toast; they were. I also did it because I had $0 in my account, so it gave me a little life. Another $5.40 down the toilet and I sit at $3. Baseball has been very, very bad to me. Going against my own advice, I’ve been betting on some of my fantasy pitchers, without much success. There is a little thing called the bullpen, that has blown at least 3 leads for me on my baseball bets. When it rains, it pours…
But, I’m alive, and, I’m a winner, regardless of what happens. I told you I have to keep repeating this to myself… haha. I made my comeback into sports gambling, and am coming out on top; I came, I saw, I conquered. If I really think about it, the sign-up bonus made up for a high percentage of my profits. Outside of that, I’m up just a little bit; it ain’t easy. Anybody who tells you it is, is full of shit; Vegas wasn’t built on winners. You may go on a heater (I have), but if you bet long enough, just like in the casino, you will inevitably experience a cooler (I am currently swimming in the Arctic Sea). How do you navigate these ups and downs? The thing that makes me the happiest, besides the fact that I have withdrawn $250 already, is that I’ve continued to bet small. So… 18 games under 500 has cost me $57… not too shabby; minimizing the damage.
OK, enough about this thread hanging. Time to put the nose back to the grindstone, and turn that $3 into $300… anybody got a winner for me??? Hahaha…
