The NFL schedule release… oooohhh! Who gives a crap? It’s much ado about nothing if you ask me… well, until this year that is. Am I excited about seeing who the Bears are going to play? Yes, yes I am… for multiple reasons.
First off, it’s just another sign that football season is coming; it makes it that much more real. First the draft, then the schedule release… training camp is around the corner. Secondly, you get to see road trip options. Although I really haven’t taken advantage of this “road trip” for Bears games, it’s still fun to think about. I have seen them play in San Diego and Oakland; I think that’s it, other than Soldier Field of course. I’d like to see them play in all other stadiums when it’s all said and done. This year presented a first: a road game in Las Vegas. Can you say dream scenario? My die-hard Raider fan buddy has been asking ever since it was announced we’d play each other. My other two friends had started texting me; I told my brother what’s up. Yeah, it’s fun to think about; man that would be great. But with flights and hotels, and oh yeah, tickets to the game, it could get pretty, pretty costly. Although, maybe we just get a bus to take us across country, put a couple kegs on there, and roll out… I’m good with that, but… probably not likely, but… I’m still holding out hope.
This year, more than ever, coming off the pandemic year, to have fans back in the stands, is pretty cool. Nothing like a full house watching a game in person. Not sure what the rules will be across the board, but with things certainly trending in the right direction, there will be fans. After having absolutely no fans last year in Soldier Field, that will be a sight for sore eyes. I love to watch the games from the comfort of my couch, but being there… it’s just different. If I don’t get to Vegas, or one of the other road games, then at least one at Soldier Field, right?

The Bears took another big swing; hopefully this time we make contact. Trading up, which made sense this time, to take another shot at finding THE guy… yeah, I was so, so happy; I feel like most Bears fans feel this way. I’m ready to see what this guy can do, and forget about waiting until the middle of the season to see him. If he’s good enough, and let’s be honest, we’re only asking him to be better than Dalton, he’ll be on the field. If I was a betting man, I’d put my money on Week 1 in LA against the Rams on Sunday Night Football.
That’s it; schedule’s out… I’m ready. Not ready to give my week to week predictions; that’ll come. But ready to check off the next box on our way to the start of another Super Bowl, I mean, NFL season. Bear Down!
