I was actually thinking about going to the Cubs game on Monday night, but with the projected weather, decided against it. That was a good call, since they decided to postpone it. With my son in bed early, and no Cubs games, the chosen television programming for the night was wide open.
I was watching TV with my wife, so I couldn’t just flip on my shows. We had to find an agreeable solution for both of us. Compromise is the name of the game. My top 3 choices for the evening were the Sox game, NBA playoff game, and NHL playoff game. Her top 3 were Dancing with Stars, WWE, and Grease. Where do we go from here?
A timeshare between all six of them… with a little Apocalypto sprinkled in. I won’t go into the details of her 3 shows or the movie, but I will talk about what I saw in the trio of sporting events on last night.
Let’s start with the Heat-Raptors game. I haven’t been watching the NBA or the NHL playoffs now that the Hawks are out. I have been paying attention to the status of each series, but have not sat down and watched any of it. So the time I spent on TNT last night was the most I watched. The Raptors blew it basically, and the Heat evened the series. What’s up with DWade and the Canadian national anthem? I guess during Game 3, he was shooting around during it. And last night, he was moving back and forth the whole time…??? Seems like a real dipshit move, even if he is trying to get under the Raptors skin. There are other ways to do that. And that’s where this series is headed… back north of the border for Game 5 knotted at two.

Each good blogger has a distinct writing “voice”. When I took a peek at the Blues Stars game, the score was 3-0 Dallas. When I flipped back, it was 3-2… I was sure St. Louis was going to tie it, and win it. They didn’t, and it’s going to Game 7. I did see Sharp and Oduya, and the announcers talking about how they know how to play in big games; did we miss them this postseason? Then I saw Niemi on the bench… Rough series for him I guess. Actually both Western Conference playoff series are going to Game 7, as Nashville beat San Jose in OT last night. It just goes to show how many really good teams there are in the West, and how even they are. It really sucked watching that game, reminding myself that the Hawks were done… we should have been playing the Stars. Still kind of stings…
The 3rd option in my Monday night sports option was the Sox Rangers game. I picked it up at 2-1 Sox. They added on in the 8th, then the Rangers tied it. They took the lead in the 9th, then the Rangers tied it. That’s where I left off. It wasn’t until this morning that I saw Frazier hit a grand slam to win the game in the 12th. I watch most of the Cubs games, and very little of the Sox. I know the Cubs are an awesome team, but let me tell you… the Sox look pretty damn good too. Their pitching is legit, and their bats are clutch… this whole October meeting may actually happen. That would be insane.
So yes, we did go through the wife’s 3 options, and I saw some Argentine tango, Ric Flair’s daughter lose a match, and the final race scene in Grease. Oh yeah, and I can always watch Apocalypto…
It was a night full of Cubs alternatives, and they weren’t half bad. They don’t compare to the Cubs game, but they kept our attention for a good chunk of the night. Hopefully the rain stops, and we get to see them tonight. If not, back to the remote… and my son will most likely be up, so PJ Masks, Peppa Pig, and Bubble Guppies will be in the mix too. Honestly, I just wished this damn weather turned, and we could go out and play some baseball ourselves. That would be the best alternative…

when i saw Apocalypto was on, i thought of you. i was flippin’ back & forth with the sox game. saw both of fraziers’ homers. like we were sayin’ on sunday, he’s only hitting 200, but a lot of them have been pretty clutch. i think that’s contagious in chicago baseball right now. doesn’t matter who started it or who caught it, it’s nice to see some of those clutch hits for the home teams for a change. is it october yet??!!!!!

Nba action…
Doesnt really matter, gsw is winning it all.
Nhl action…
Nothing like playoff hockey but sucks not seeing the Hawks in it knowing that they could beat any of these teams. Think the east will win the Cup this year, though.
Sox have been impressive. They are living up to last year’s expectations. Cubs-sox series this year should be really good, and who knows if maybe they end up meeting again in the fall!
