The draft was over, but the Bears were not done. Just as most teams, they went out and signed a number of undrafted free agents. So you’re telling me the draft can be another round longer and there’d still be plenty of guys to go around? Yep… probably another couple rounds. With the state of the world at draft time 2020, we would have welcomed a few more rounds. The Bears signed 11 of them to be exact. The most interesting to me is the brother of current Bear Khalil Mack.
Ledarius Mack, like his older brother Khalil, attended Buffalo University; he’s also a linebacker. Obviously he’s not that good, or else he would have been drafted. But imagine he makes the team and he’s decent; that would be cool. I already saw the Super Mario Bros logo changed to Super Mack Bros. That may be a bit premature, but I would love to see him make the team and play on the field with his brother. Having a brother of my own, any time we played on the same team together, we were dangerous. When you know somebody that well, what their strengths are, where they are going to be on the court/field, it’s really cool; this is the same reason I didn’t like playing against him. If Ledarius has half the talent of his older brother, I’d be happy.
The Bears made a few more moves since then signing WR Trevor Davis, WR Ted Ginn Jr, and S Tashaun Gipson. Trevor Davis joins Jimmy Graham and Jason Spriggs as ex-Packers new to the roster in 2020. Another man’s trash? I don’t really recall any ex-Packers playing well on the Bears; there are more than enough ex-Bears that have performed well for the Packers and every other NFL team for that matter. Ted Ginn Jr joins Jimmy Graham as a “washed up” offensive weapon. I mean, just as Jimmy still has his height, Ted is still pretty fast… Here’s hoping they both have some left in the tank.

Although he ended last season being injured, he’s played double digit games in each of his 8 NFL seasons; he’ll be turning 30 this year. He does have a bit of postseason experience with the Jaguars in 2017; definitely hope to add to that this year. He could very well be starting opposite Eddie Jackson come the season opener. We needed help at the Safety position. We didn’t address it in the draft; glad to see us sign one. There’s still the possibility to convert one of our CBs to S, but at least we have another veteran S in the mix.
First we had Blackhawks news, then more Bulls moves, and now some Bears moves. For the lack of live sporting events going on, there has still been enough to talk about in Chicago; The Last Dance helps tremendously too. Still, boy do I miss live sports. With the NBA and NHL season pretty much done for the Bulls and Blackhawks, and the Cubs and White Sox seasons thrown up in the air, the one glimmer of hope I’ve been holding on to is that the NFL season is NOT impacted; I’m still holding on… Until then, Bear Down!
