Well, after making it to the next tier in my professional gambling quest, I upped my units. Trying to stick with my money management principles (that’s the discipline), I’m using 2% of my bankroll as 1 unit. So of course, as soon as I increase my units, I take a hit. I had dropped back to my “previous tier” almost instantly, but… decided to keep the same units at least for a minute. Glad I did. Since that day, I have been on an absolute heater.
It started slow, making a half unit back the next day, and a full unit back the 2nd day, until I exploded on Tuesday. I went 10-2 plus hit on a player prop to win 12.5 units! It was my single biggest day since I’ve been back. Wednesday and Thursday brought almost 7 more units into the coffer; I was back…in a big way… surpassing my previous high, propelling myself forward towards the next tier. It was awesome!
Let me tell you about a couple things. First off, this past Monday. I only made 1 unit, but I dodged some serious bullets. Both the college plays I had tabbed, I passed up; you know, sometimes it’s the ones you don’t play that are the smartest move. I had 2 NBA plays; I locked in both of those. However, as game time approached, the line in one of those games moved 7 points!!! Yeah, 7 fricking points. No, it wasn’t a point shaving scandal, Giannis was announced out just before the game. Since I was already on the Clippers +4 before they moved to -3, this is a good thing right? I’m in great shape, no? Well, I didn’t think so. Why not? If I liked the Clippers before I knew Giannis was out, how can I not love them now? I just didn’t. Star player from the other team misses the game, star players on my team relax a bit…??? I cashed out for a 0.25 unit profit before the tip; good move it turns out. The Bucks ended up covering the original line… whew!
But yeah, Super Tuesday… my favorite was of course was not my 10-2 record, but the player prop I hit. Again, I had tabbed a team, the Sixers, but when I found out Maxey was out, I didn’t like it as much; it was a no play. I locked in all my other plays and was reading through some stuff. This guy I follow, that is a weekly guest on my favorite show, talked about Kelly Oubre. Who? Well, this guy was on a game I played with my son couple years back; he was always the worst player to pick. Before this past Sunday, I didn’t even know what team he was on. I caught a little bit of the Sixers Mavericks game, and saw him doing a little bit of work… a lefty too. He would be getting his chance with Maxey out to do some damage; the guy liked him over his point total… he even talked a bit about his adjusted point total. I took it. 25+ pts for Kelly. It didn’t start well. When the starting lineups were announced, he wasn’t even in there! WTF?!?! I’m already dead in the water. However, when I checked at halftime, he had 11 points; so you’re saying there’s a chance… Yes, there was. As I showed up to pick my son up from swimming, he was sitting at 23 points with a little more than a minute left. I gave the phone to my son with gamecast up, and asked him to give me play by play. When he said Oubre made a layup, I was home free… he ended up with 30 for the game! Cha-Ching!
Enjoying this heater while I can; trying to avoid/minimize the inevitable down turn that will come. With March Madness right around the corner, this should be fun. Let’s do it!
