March 7, 2022: Avoiding the Sixers

posted in: Bulls | 0

On Monday night, the Bulls tried to break their 4 game skid against the Sixers; spoiler alert… they didn’t. The Bulls lost their 5th game in a row. I could have predicted that. Not the 5 game losing streak, but a loss at the hand of the 76ers. It wasn’t always this way, but it has certainly been a bad run of games against the team from Philly.

The Bulls didn’t beat the Sixers in any of their 4 games this year. The Bulls didn’t beat the Sixers last year. The Bulls didn’t beat the Sixers the year before; this is sounding like a broken record. Yeah, March 6, 2019, was the last time the Bulls beat this team… by 1 point. The Bulls are 1-14 in their last 15 matchups with the Sixers; ugly, ugly, ugly. I wonder why the horrendous skid…

Well, the Bulls sucked for a minute before this year; that explains some of it. But this year?!?! Another big factor is the presence of Joel Embiid. We can’t stop him. We picked up Tristan Thompson for defense; he can’t stop him. Vooch was out in this most recent game; it wouldn’t have mattered. The guy just dominates us. He averages 29.5 points per game in his career vs us. Monday night? 43! This is a big reason why I’m all about avoiding the Sixers in a playoff matchup.

Playoffs? Yeah, we’re still in there; we WILL be in there, regardless of this 5 game losing streak. Looking at potential matchups, don’t think any will be easy. The whole Bulls record against the top teams in the East thing… not good, for a reason though, no? To beat the best, don’t you have to be at your best? I go back to this. If/when the Bulls are 100% healthy, I’ll take my chances against anybody. If I had to choose… again, NOT the Sixers! Of course, like to avoid the Bucks at least for a round. Haven’t fared too well against the Heat either… OK, have to pick somebody. The Celtics, yeah. The Raptors, OK. Even the Cavs with all their size… Nets are scary, lurking at the bottom of the playoff standings. Hornets and Hawks don’t scare me. I guess when all the dust settles, the Bulls are right in the middle of the playoff pack, meaning, feel like we can handle half the playoff teams, and will have trouble with the other half. Quite the jump from the last few sucky ass years.

But yeah, Embiid… and now they have Harden, and this kid Maxie, and… whoever they run out there, does well against the Bulls. Maybe it’s a Philly thing. When was the last time the Blackhawks won against the Flyers in Philly? Well, there is that whole 2010 thing… haha. Then there was the Phillies and Mike Schmidt that owned the Cubs… The Eagles and the Parkey game. The Eagles playoff game back in the day that I attended… I’ve never been to Philly… do I really want to go? There are the cheese steaks…

Until then though, maybe a Hate File brewing for the Philadelphia teams… maybe not… unless we meet the Sixers in the playoffs this year… then maybe yeah… OK, let’s keep going…
