March 6, 2020: Lose in Person

There’s nothing better than seeing your team lose in person. To be there in the stands and to see this epic failure first hand cannot be topped; well, there is one way to “top” that… we’ll get to that, but as a fan, you’ve really reached a high moment seeing your team take one on the chin. I’m just absolutely thrilled that I can say I was there on Friday night to see the Bulls lose again at the UC, this time against the Indiana Pacers.

They’ve lost 20 games at home this year out of 33 so far, so the odds have definitely been in your favor this year if you’re looking to see a Bulls loss. In fact, the odds were even worse last year, when the Bulls turned in their worst home record in franchise history at 9-32. The year before that was just about as bad, when they were 10-31 at home. Hell, I guess I should be happy with their home record this year…

It’s been brutal (again) this year to be a Bulls fan, but it’s still fun to go to the United Center right? Well this trip was actually a group outing, so yeah, it was a good time. Actually any time I go, most of the times with my son, is fun. Although winning would make it better, there is plenty to keep us preoccupied… anything but having to sit there and watch every second of this pain. At home, it’s easy; flip to another channel. Don’t sit on the game the entire time. Don’t put yourself through this torture. In fact, maybe you should just watch the first half of games; that would make you a little more happier. At the UC, it’s all about taking that walk around the concourse. The only thing I have to worry about then is trying to steer my son away from an expensive ask. Friday night was easy; we got there early enough to get the Benny bobblehead… that made the trip worth it right there. I ended up giving mine to our bus driver, who just happened to be a die-hard Bulls fan; I know (hope) he appreciated that.

Yeah, walking out after a loss sucks, but hey, it’s less crowded. In fact, walking IN was less crowded. We pulled up at 6pm, with the gates already being open for 30 minutes, and walked right in; it was crazy! Then leaving… hell, half the place, maybe 2/3 of the stadium was empty by the time the final buzzer went off. It made for a lot easier exit. Hey, I’m looking for silver linings here… that’s what I do.

But yes, I would trade all the perks of losing for a win any day. I was hoping to see one on Friday, since that was probably my last trip to the UC this year. But no, the Bulls disappointed; I’m not surprised. That’s just what they do… and we continue to suffer. When will it all end?
