March 4, 2015: Rivalry Renewed

posted in: Bulls | 2

It does feel like a rivalry, doesn’t it?  For all the supposed great rivalries going on with our Chicago sports teams, this one seems real.  Bulls Wizards is getting good… one more playoff matchup would cement it as an official rivalry.

Think about it.. Bears Packers… Packers have owned us.  Cubs Cardinals… Cardinals have owned us.  Sox Tigers… I guess.  Hawks Wings… Wings have moved divisions.  A better one there may be Hawks Kings…. that’s probably up there too, considering we each have one series victory over each other on the way to raising the Cup; true destiny will have us meeting again to settle the score, and add a page to that rivalry.  Hawks Kings may qualify, but I think Bulls Wizards is the best current rivalry for any of our sports teams.

What do you need to make a good rivalry?  You need some hate; there is definitely some hate going on.  Personally, the Wizards Hate File is alive and kicking; ***Free Plug Alert*** you can review that in the Hate Files section of this website.  So I have hate for them; I think many fans may feel the same way… the way we were taken out last year in the playoffs… the fights between Butler Nene… Pierce Noah…  the striving for the same thing… the Eastern Conference championship.  Yes, Lebron may have his say before all is said and done, but I wouldn’t mind Bulls Wizards to determine who gets the chance to meet the Cavs.

The hate is there with the players too.  Nene came out and said he hated the Bulls; good!  I like it.  I don’t like the fact that he hates MY team, and for that screw him, BUT… you need a little hate in today’s sports world.  There’s too much buddy buddy.  There’s not a lot of team pride out there; screw every other team besides my team.  Nene hates us?  That’s cool, because we hate you and the Wizards too.

He was up to his old tricks yesterday… karate chopping Noah in the face on his way to earning a flagrant foul.  He’s a goon, plain and simple.  The thing is, he usually puts up pretty good numbers against us.  Yesterday?  Zip, zero, nada, a big goose egg for points, AND he fouled out, AND the Wizards lost.  That’s the triple crown my friend.  Suck it Nene!

Noah kept his cool yesterday; that couldn’t have been easy.  I liked what he said after the game about it… saying that he just filmed an ad against violence, so how would that look if he took a swing at Nene… mixing it up with some violence of his own?  Good for you Noah.  That being said… if Nene ever does that crap again, I give permission to you… wait… someone less important… to Nazr Mohammad to come in there and knock his block off.  That was a BS move… let’s put that one in our back pocket.  We definitely owe him one.

But we got them where it counted most yesterday, and that’s on the scoreboard.  A big victory for the Bulls missing 3 of their top players.  Who would have guessed it?  Would you believe me if I told you they were actually favored in yesterday’s game?  Yep, Papa Vegas knows the NBA too.  We’ll take it!  Gasol with his 1000th double double (actually like 39th) of the season, and Mirotic with his 2nd 20 point game in a row; I told you I liked Mirotic.  I told you I want HIM on the floor when it counts.  He’s paying dividends big time in the past two games.  The move where he shook Nene (there’s that jerk again) and drained a three over his head was sweeeet.  Good for you Nikola.  Keep it up!

It was satisfying to see the Bulls get the W yesterday.  It’s more satisfying seeing our teams get a win against a hated team than a normal win; I don’t care what anybody says.  Playing a team that we hate, makes me want to watch the game even more than I would normally; that’s the facts too.  And yes, it only counts for one win in the standings, but it feels damn good.

So the Bulls win the latest chapter in this blossomming rivalry.  You just have a feeling that like the Hawks Kings, that the Bulls Wizards will meet in the postseason; there are more chapters to write in BOTH rivalries.  Until then, Nene, try to NOT get hurt, and don’t do anything stupid off the court, because we want you ON the court.  We want you ON the court to deliver the ultimate payback, and that’s sending your ass home when we end your season.  See you in a couple months…

how ’bout Hawks/Canucks? that seems to be a good one of late…..

or, just for you, Sox/Cubs? not really a ‘hated’ rivalry, but still…..

Yeah, Hawks Canucks has been good… although I think it’s lost its steam now. Maybe Hawks Blues too?

Cubs Sox hasn’t been the same lately because both teams have sucked. That will definitely change this year, so yeah, that will be back in full effect!
