Watching the Hawks the past 2 nights, you can tell playoff hockey is approaching. The best team in the NHL, yeah I said it, is rounding back into form. They’ve been here before. They’ve done this before. It’s time to do it again.
It was a dramatic win on the road Sunday vs the Jets, but an even more satisfying win last night at home against the Kings. When talking about rivals, the Kings have to rank near the top of the list for this current Hawks team. Judging by recent Stanley Cup wins, and what else better is there to judge by, it’s Kings 2 Hawks 2. They’ve been the top 2 teams in the Western Conference, and one of them will be going back to the playoffs; the other, not so sure.
That made this one a little extra sweet. With the Kings on the outside looking in, the Hawks put their foot to their throat. Yes, they’re not out of it yet, and yes, they probably will still sneak in, but we can always hope; we can always hope that we helped contribute to them not making the playoffs. I kind of want them to make the playoffs though…
That’s the way I like my revenge. I want more than a little appetizer plate like a regular season win; I want the main course. I want a chance to send a team that I hate home for the year. I want us to be that team that ends their season. I want to do to them, what they did to us last year. I can only get that special if the Kings get in.
Playoff hockey is a whole different animal. How are you feeling about the Hawks’ chances? After some bad losses to Phllly and Columbus, they came back with big wins. Was your confidence shaken and now restored? Did you get that bad feeling when Kane was knocked out… that feeling like the Hawks aren’t going anywhere without him? Were you never worried… counting on the Hawks pedigree to shine through and lead us to the promised land, at least far enough to get Kane back, and then we’re money? Well, throw all that in, mix it together, bake it for a couple weeks, and out will come the result. We’ll soon all know what the Hawks future will hold.

I’m getting that feeling like they’ll be OK. Just seeing them get big W’s the past 2 night… seeing them celebrate a little harder after goals… playing a little more physical…. getting those dirty playoff type goals…. It’s all making me think they’re ready to go.
Side note… did you see that hit Saad took yesterday? That was brutal; glad he was OK. I’m kind of thinking he’s going to be huge this postseason. He’ll be counted on to be big, and he’ll be counted on getting paid big too when it’s all said and done. That’s one guy I don’t mind throwing the money at, but… all that is a blog for another day. It’s almost playoff time.
Only six games left to go. It’s been a long time coming. It’s been a long time since that crap goal happened that ended our season last year. It’s time to get back what’s ours.
I’m getting that feeling like I’m forgetting something… yes, my 4 year anniversary today. Yes, I did get a card too, whew. We’re set now. Another blog in, another year down. It’s been actually 14 years since I met my wife; it’s almost been a whole year blogging. Not sure where I’m going with this… but Happy Anniversary babe. Let’s keep the hits coming.
