Let’s flash back 15 years ago today.  The Bears had just finished their 6th consecutive year in a row without playoffs.  One of the positives that came out of the 2000 NFL season was the arrival of Brian Urlacher; who won the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year.  One piece was in place.

The Blackhawks were on their way to missing the postseason for the 5th straight year; this happened 10 times in 11 years.  I’m pretty sure the United Center was not getting sold out every night back then.  In fact, I know it wasn’t.  I attended a game where you could actually hear the players talking on the ice….from the 300 level.  We’ve come a long way baby.

The Bulls… the 2nd straight year they would miss the postseason.  Elton Brand won Rookie of the Year, but it really didn’t matter.  The Bulls would go on to miss the playoffs for 4 more years.

The Cubs were coming off 95 & 97 loss seasons respectively.  Manager Don Baylor predicted a big upcoming year.  After all, with guys like Eric Young, Rondell White, Matt Stairs, Todd Hundley, and Julian Tavarez we couldn’t miss.  Slightly different expectations this year…

And the Sox?  They were actually coming off a postseason appearance.  The previous year they lost 3-0 in the ALDS to the Seattle Mariners.  I actually attended one of those games in the Cell.  I remember some Sox fans throwing peanuts at some Mariners fans sitting in the left field bleachers.  They lost that game, and got swept out of the first round… but hey, that’s more than any other Chicago team could say back then.

What were you doing 15 years ago?  I was living the single life.  Yes, things were quite different back then.  But that was all about to change.  As I tried to retire early on this Friday night, which was a rarity, I was called by some friends.  They urged me to get up, shower, and come out; we were meeting some girls.  So, I did, and as we waited for the girls to arrive, I met another girl… that same girl that I’m married to today.

Things 15 years later ARE quite different… for some of us.  Same old same old for Da Bears.  They just missed the postseason for the 5th straight year.  Things couldn’t be more different for the Blackhawks; they are in the middle of something great, hoping to put their final stamp on a dynasty this year.  The Bulls are on the verge of missing the postseason for the first time in 8 years; makes me sick.  The Cubs are World Series favorites.  Wowza!  And the Sox may be on the verge of a good season themselves.

And me… I’m about to celebrate my 5th anniversary with my wife, and about to have a birthday party for our 4 year old son.  Things are quite different, but things are going quite well.  It’s been almost 2 years since I started this website and blog; another anniversary quickly approaching.

Where do we go from here?  It’s anyone’s guess, but if the next 15 are as good as the last 15, I’d be good.  I got a feeling they’ll be better…

How many championships for each team in the next 15 years, including this year…

    Hawks-2
    Bears-1
    Bulls-0
    Cubs-3
    Sox-0

It would be nice if each team could give us at least 1 title in the next 15 years, but honestly, I would trade any for just 1 Cubs title!
