OK, let’s wrap it up. Cubs, will suck. Bears, not so good. Blackhawks, ugly, ugly, ugly. That leaves one. The last team standing is the Chicago Bulls. I’m just so happy they beat the Wizards on Tuesday night in DC. The Bulls are our only hope at this point. The way they’ve been playing lately, even that has been shaky. Still, with the playoffs only 7 games away, the Bulls WILL be in that second season. How far will they go? Let’s just be happy they’re in the mix, more they we can say for our other teams. (Disclaimer: Yes, I know the Sox should be playing playoff baseball; they are Chicago, but they are not MY team. I will still talk about them from time to time. Thank you.)
So yeah, the Bulls… needed that win in a big way in DC. They better have won that one, especially with the Wizards missing Beal and fashion star Kuzma. Did you see that coat he was wearing on the bench? Looked like a bottle of pepto bismol. Anyways, I would have needed a bottle of that had the Bulls dropped that game. As of today, the Bulls sit in the 5th spot; that would mean a matchup with the Sixers in the first round. Honestly, outside of the Bucks, there is no team that I’d rather avoid than the Sixers. I understand we’ll have to play one or both of them as the playoffs move on, but not in the first round. Give me the Celtics, Raptors, Cavs, even the Heat.
4-11 in the last 15 games for the boys; not great Cotton. Sure, it’s been a tough schedule, and as we’ve talked about before, as everybody is aware of, the Bulls haven’t done the greatest against these teams, but… the playoffs will be full of these types of teams. The Bulls will have to take their game to another level come playoff time, but doesn’t every team have to do this? The Bulls will have to go into the playoffs not at 100%, down Ball and Zach’s gimpy knee, but doesn’t every team have to deal with this? Now is not the time for excuses; now is the time for winning. Question is: how will the Bulls win in the playoffs?
I have plenty of thoughts on that, some no brainers, others maybe not. The Bulls play their best when they are moving the ball on offense, getting assists on their baskets. It’s nice to have guys who can get their own shot, guys who can “take over” a game late, like DD and Zach, and even Coby and Vooch to the getting their own shot extent, but when guys are cutting to the hoop, the ball is being swung around, guys are taking open shots in rhythm, that’s where the Bulls, and I’m guessing most teams, are at their best. Too many times lately it seems like everybody is just standing around watching DD and Zach. Again, there will be a time for that, but for most of the game, this offense needs to flow; certainly the absence of Ball hurts us here. But Ayo and Caruso can certainly help facilitate this. The Bulls also need to bring that A+ effort for 4 quarters; too many quarters lately in this streak do not seem to meet this criteria. Every team is going to go through tough times; it would be great if the Bulls were playing their best ball right now. I don’t think we can say that.
Much more to come, but back to the point here: the Bulls will be back in the playoffs! Rejoice, be happy! With the rest of my teams in the opposite position, I’m going to appreciate this no doubt. I’m ready for the playoffs; I hope this last couple weeks of the season help to get the Bulls a favorable matchup in the first round. Winning a first round series would be huge for this team; who knows what could follow. Playoff tickets on sale Thursday! Go Bulls!
