March 27, 2017: Always in the Mood

posted in: Cubs | 3

Did you catch that special on Comcast?  Reign Men, the story of Game 7, was on Monday night.  It will never get old.  I’m always in the mood for some 2016 World Series Champion Chicago Cubs stuff.

So of course I enjoyed it, and you better believe when they showed that last out I was still fist pumping.  When they talked about what they all felt after the game was tied, I could relate.  When they talked about the meeting during the rain delay, I teared up too.  It was just another look at that great, great night.

What’s next?  30 for 30 at some point.  A movie deal?  Why not?  What happened, how it happened is what dreams are made of.  How long it took to happen only seemed to add to the sweetness of it all.  There are plenty of leading men…plenty of characters involved.  Who should play who?

I need my wife’s help for this one.  Theo Epstein could be Ben Affleck; for the record I don’t think much of his acting.  Joe Maddon could be played by Russell Crowe; that one is my choice.  Kris Bryant played by Zac Effron.  How about Anthony Rizzo?  Haley Joel Osment?  Honestly, I can’t even picture him.  Common could play Jason Heyward; I like that one.  Casey Affleck could play Zobrist.  Jonah Hill could be Schwarby.  This is coming together nicely.

The sky is the limit.  These guys are legendary.  They are famous on a national level; on a local level they are untouchable.  The 85 Bears?  MJ?  The current Blackhawks core?  Yeah, they’re right up there. Sorry, Paul Konerko too Sox fans.  They deserve it all. We deserve it all.  This will be the one season that will anchor the Cubs TV network once it starts up; we’re ready for a sequel.

I loved Theo’s parts the best, although Lester talking about the stuff in the locker room already was pretty cool.  I liked hearing how the plan was talked about before the game. Hendricks to Lester to Chapman made sense; I think it could have been executed differently, but why change a thing looking back?  It would have been a nightmare if they lost; Maddon would have been run out of town.  But not this time. No epic Cubs collapse. This could be the start of a new era.

And it’s about damn time.  Will winning become the new Cub Way?  Not since the turn of the 20th century was that the case. Don’t think they have much video footage from those years.  It would be nice to see those games, but I’ll just settle for 2016.

Yes, and of course the rain delay.  I could hear Sox fans now:  you only won because of the rain delay.  Haha.  Hey, it was all part of it.  You can try to knock it if you like, and Sox fans will, but I don’t care.  I don’t care because you can’t knock it…ever.  It can never be taken away.  We finally did it.

So thanks Comcast for the show.  I actually remembered to watch it, and was able to from start to finish first shot through.  I will never not be in the mood. This is the new go to.  Cubs reign men?  We may have only begun.

Always in the mood is right. Nothing can or will ruin the 2016 Chicago Cubs season or the night that they finally did it! All that can happen now is add onto it, and we all know the Cubs are built for it as well as picked to be right there for a chance to repeat again in 2017. I missed this special so I will have to catch it on csn again or just youtube it. I know the tears would come again, though, and I could care less. Bleeding blue is what I always said, and my tears would be happy blue, too. Nobody can knock the Cubs title, as hard as some may try. 2017 will be another 162 game grind. What will happen? How will guys perform with a daily target on their back? Will the pressure to repeat be too much? Will injuries hurt the Cubs? So many questions to come. The Cubs will have the answers…will they be the right ones? I sure hope so. GO CUBS GO!!!
