March 24, 2025: Bullish

Don’t look now… are the Bulls actually good? Are we getting bullish on the Bulls? Another win, this time in Denver on Monday night, brings our record to 32-40; that’s it? Geez, I thought we’d be over 500 for how good we’ve played lately; guess we were really in the shitter before then. Let’s take a closer look.

On February 5th, the Bulls kicked off essentially a 9 game losing streak, only broken up by the 30 point thrashing of the lifeless Sixers in Philly and the lucky win against the Raptors at home. In other words, the Bulls had lost 7 of their last 9 games, then… it happened. The Bulls have won 8 of their last 10 games, started with a 4 game winning streak, currently on a 3 game winning streak; before this, the Bulls had only won 3 games in a row once all season…. now, 2x in a matter of 10 games?!?! OK, I’m listening…

I know the Magic have been banged up; still nice road win. I know the Heat are not the same without Buckets; still nice road win. BTW… these are 2 of the other 3 play-in teams. A win against the Pacers was sweet; they’ve been as hot as anybody lately. The Nets, Jazz… OK; hey, at least we didn’t lose to them. Beating the ex-Bulls Lavine and DD with the Kings in Sac-Town was a good one. Slaughtering the Lakers… pump that in my veins. And now, beating the Nuggets on their home court??? I know, no Joker… still. We can dissect these recent winning ways anyway we’d like, but at the end of the day, the Bulls are playing good ball; now what?

Well, the Bulls are locked into a play-in game; we were locked in before this recent run. Now, maybe we get a home game out of that made up play-in tourney. If were to lock in to the 7th or 8th seed, then we only need to win 1 game to get into the actual playoffs; woo hoo! We’ve done that before, problem is, we’ve been in the 9th or 10th spot, which requires 2 wins to get in, which we’ve struggled with. Anyway you look at it, the Bulls, IF we win the play-in stuff, will be a 7 or an 8 seed. Yay, the Bulls will actually make the playoffs! Then, we’ll get a series against either the Cavs or Celtics; well, it was fun while it lasted. Are you telling me we could BEAT one of those teams??? No.

I don’t care about that right this second. I do enjoy seeing the Bulls play well. Sure, it may be messing up our odds for the Cooper Flagg sweepstakes, and maybe giving the Bulls front office crazy ideas like Billy Donovan is a good coach, but… I like to see my teams win, and that’s exactly what’s been going on with the boys. Next up, is a visit from the Fake Show, I mean, Lake Show… you know, the team we beat by 31 points on their home court; I’m guessing they’ll be out for blood… I’m guessing the officials will get the memo. After them is Dallas at home, so… we should get back to our winning ways then. Go Bulls!!!
