March 21, 2022: Return of the Paw

We weren’t sure we would see this day, at least not in the current regular season. Patrick Williams, affectionately known as P-Will or Paw, returned to the court for the Bulls on Monday night at the UC. The Bulls beat the Raptors to get a much needed win.

Before Patrick Williams checked into the game, I was already getting pissed off. I saw Vooch take and miss another 3 point shot. If I shook my head as hard as I felt about this being a bad idea, it would be rolling down the hallway. Why, why does he continue to take 3 point shots? Vooch is shooting the lowest 3 point percentage on the team. If he is finding himself wide open at the three point line, it may be for a reason. I am literally OK with ANY other shot for Vooch. His mid-range game is very solid; he CAN shoot the ball successfully from a few feet INSIDE the arc. His little one handed shots are nice too. I love when he has his back to the basket, and gets his shot up. Vooch is a very good offensive center; he is an above average passer IMO as well. Just do NOT shoot any more treys. If I can see this that clearly, why isn’t anybody on the Bulls coaching staff seeing the same? SMDH!!!

Then Patrick checked into the game, and I was happy again. AKME’s first draft pick with the Bulls has rewarded my patience, not only with his early return from a serious wrist injury, but his play in general since he’s been drafted. When they called his name on draft night, I was like “who”? If it was GarPax at the helm, I think I may have lost my mind. But, being AKME’s first draft pick, I preached patience to myself; let’s see if these new guys know what they’re doing. In this particular case, they did.

He’s not the only one. What about the DD signing? Turned out better than anyone expected, although on this evening, one play he made at the end of the first quarter pissed me off too. One of my biggest pet peeves across the NBA, and any other basketball for that matter, is when someone passes a wide open layup to kick it out for a wide open three pointer. DD did that at the end of the first quarter in this one; he doesn’t typically do this. I was like… no, not you too DD. I even rewinded the play to see him decide to kick it out instead of making an easy bucket himself. In the long run, these plays do NOT pay off. Hard to criticize DD, especially on an evening when he did a whole lot right, but… had to say something about this. Again, another note to the coaching staff to communicate to the guys: don’t do it!

Right after that, they were talking about Jamal Crawford’s retirement; I believe Stacey said he’s a Hall of Famer… I was like, what?!?! He’s a nice player and all, and ex-Bull, but HOF? I had a hard time believing Toni Kukoc was a Hall of Famer. Somebody please convince me that Stacey is not off his rocker by suggesting that. There’s no way, right?

OK, enough complaining… The Bulls got a much needed victory, and now, only wait for Lonzo Ball to return from HIS injury, although that ain’t sounding too great. If he does return, the Bulls will be at 100%, ready to take on the world in the Eastern Conference side of things. If he doesn’t, well, no excuses. Another potential playoff preview on tap on Tuesday night, as the 5 seed Bulls head up to Milwaukee to face the 3 seed Bucks. You really ready to go Patrick? Go Bulls!!!
