March 2, 2016: Dangerous

I didn’t see much of it.  I did catch most of the highlights.  I did read some postgame stuff.  I have one conclusion; the one that we usually reach about this time of year.  The Blackhawks are a dangerous team.

I can’t say it enough, how happy I am to have a team like the Hawks in our city.  With nobody else contributing to the title collection lately, it’s the Blackhawks that we continue to have to count on.  With the latest string of Bowman’s bargains, they looked primed for another deep run into the playoffs.  Wednesday night was Rivalry Night, and that meant the Hawks visited Detroit.

The Blues don’t quite do it.  The Preds… nah.  The natural rival for this Hawks team is Detroit.  The Wings got lucky to transfer out of the conference when they did; the Hawks would be kicking their ass on the regular.  As it sits now, we have to settle for this one visit to Motown per year; they made the most of it.  Saw the Seabrook blast that gave us the 1-0; how good has he been?  I remember the one year, he was really shaky; I guess that really was because of the concussions.  He’s been as steady as they come.  And yes, he has scored more meaningful goals against Detroit, but last night’s added to his career high in goals.  His slapshot is scary and has been on point this year.  As if the Hawks didn’t have enough firepower up front, they have Duncs and now Seabs sniping from the blue line; even more dangerous once they creep towards the net.

It’s not a place that should be on your bucket list; let’s just put it like that.  Yes, I’ve been a couple times, most recently for a concert, and it was fun; any place is fun with the right people.  It’s just dingy.  Nothing to it.  Unless you’re going to support one of our teams, just stay away.  Although since it is not too bad of a drive from Chicago, most of us have been, or will eventually make it up there.  All the Hawks fans that made that trek yesterday were rewarded.

But that’s what the Hawks do.  They reward their fans by bringing many W’s and most importantly championships.  They got another one in them?  I say yes.  I say repeat.  I say this team looks dangerous enough before you add Hossa and Kruger back in the mix.  It’s that time of year again.  Let’s not take it for granted and enjoy.  Go Hawks!
