It’s nice to see the Bulls beating the bums the past couple games; this isn’t always the case. Remember the 2 losses to the Pistons… Getting the Wizards and Trailblazers at home in back to back games… while Coby White is resting his hip… was perfect timing. Now, here we sit, again, right on the cusp of being a 500 team; will the Bulls finally be able to get over, or at least TO the hump?
Not sure it will really matter at the end of the day, although it’d be nice to be a team that’s over 500. The Bulls, as we suspected early on in the season, are pretty much destined for the play-in game, again. I guess there’s an outside chance we could make the playoffs legitimately; without Embiid, the Sixers have been in a free fall. Certainly think there’s a better chance at that than falling out of the play-in. Talk about bad teams… the Nets, Raptors, and Hornets aren’t catching anybody. The Pistons and Wizards have already been eliminated. What will the play-in look like?
Currently, it will be Bulls Hawks to determine who will play the loser of Pacers Heat to determine who will get the 8 seed. And then, IF we win 2 games, our prize would be to play the Celtics in the first round. Yeah, don’t make any plans for that 7th championship any time soon. Still, to get to the actual playoffs would be something, right? Remember the last time we faced off against the Celtics in the playoffs? Love Coby and DeMar, but… even Rose and Noah couldn’t overcome that challenge, although they did make it fun as hell; I miss that team.
How bad are the Wizards? Well, they’ve won 2 games in the past 2 months; that’s bad. You know what else? NC State… a little cross over action, won more games at their home arena during their run to the ACC title than the Wizards have won there all year!!! Yeah, that bad. The Blazers, already eliminated themselves from postseason contention, aren’t a whole lot better. Well, hold on… they have won 19 games to the Wizards 11 games; that is a LOT better actually. They’ve actually won 4 games during February and March; ooohhh!!! We’re certainly long removed from 1977 and 1978, when the Blazers and Bullets won NBA titles respectively. Yes, they actually each did win 1 NBA championship! More than can be said for the Suns, Jazz, Nets, Magic, Pacers, Hornets, Clippers, Grizzlies, Timberwolves, and Pelicans combined, OK?!?! Will one of these teams get their franchise’s first ever title? Believe it or not, you can actually bet on that.
Next up for our boys, a visit to Houston. The Rockets have been on fire lately, and at home, without Coby White, will provide an extremely difficult test for the Bulls, even though the Rockets are missing one of their best players as well. With the game being on Thursday night, and March Madness going on at the same time, well… I love the Bulls and all, but… it will be primo channel surfing time. Go Bulls!
