March 17, 2016: The High Five Club

Thursday night featured the Bulls hosting the Nets at the UC. It was my 2nd straight night at the United Center.

Before we get there, March Madness kicked off.  Before that, St. Patrick’s Day arrived.  It’s nice when the two are timed together.  That’s how it was for my bachelor party in Vegas; Thursday kicked off March Madness which was St. Patrick’s Day…or maybe it was Friday… anyways, they both happened at the same time, and we were in Vegas for it.  This year, I didn’t even turn in my bracket, figuring it to be dead money.  However, as the first round developed, I actually hit on one of my upset picks, Yale.  Our building hosted a little event to celebrate the kickoff of the tourney.  It wasn’t Vegas, but it was very cool… a good way to get the day kicked into gear.  From there, I headed to the UC.

It was my son and I this time; we were there just after 5pm.  The gates didn’t open until 5:30pm, however, when I asked one of the outside vendors if all the gates opened at the same time, he said yes, but people with American Express cards can get in early.  Reeeaaally?  OK, so we walked right up, flashed the Amex, and got in before everybody standing outside.  The giveaway was a green Bulls scarf, which I wore around my neck, since I didn’t have anything else green on to celebrate the day.  We did have to wait until 5:30 to start walking around the UC…

Once 5:30 hit, we began our laps.  Couple times around the first level, getting a balloon hat made, making a sign, and stopping in every store.  Then up to the 300 level… same routine, a lot less crowded.  It was about 6:20, and I asked my son if he wanted to go to our seats.  He said 5 minutes.  So we walked back down to the 100 level for one more round.  As we moved along, this girl sitting at one of the displays stopped us… and asked us if we wanted to go on the court to high five the players.  Heck yes!

The best cure to treat this disorder in generic viagra for sale men is available now, Kamagra 50mg and 100mg. Sing it out loud tadalafil discount or turn it into a chant. The main treatment was the use of find over here buy levitra, a medicine which works smoothly and is said to be gentle way to discover a person s aspiration or the pleasure which makes the sex between the two of them more enjoyable as well as memorable and enjoyable. The drinks made up of fresh pharmacy on line viagra fruits and vegetables are known to boost sexual performance. My son had no clue what was going on… the guy leading this group of kids (and parents) to the court asked him to be up front; my son hid behind my leg.  He was definitely the youngest out of the group.  So we all marched down court side.  My almost 4 year old was in awe.  He just couldn’t stop looking around… we were actually on the United Center court!  As the 12 kids practiced the high five routine, I noticed a familiar kid in the group; yes, the ever famous PJ, Derrick Rose’s son, with his ninja turtle t-shirt on.  My son and him were the 2 smallest kids on the court.

The music kicked on and my son started looking around again; then someone carrying a Bulls flag ran in front of him.  I was telling my son to LOOK… here they come.  So he reached out his hand… I don’t think any player actually high fived him; it was the same for PJ, except of course for his father, who bent down for him.  I feel like writing a letter, to tell the Bulls to make sure these guys high five each and every one of these kids.  Still, it was a once in a lifetime experience, that he will never forget…

As we got ready to walk off the court, my son with his Jimmy Butler jersey on, and me with my scarf, I noticed somebody missing.  I didn’t see Jimmy Butler on the court… my son’s favorite player.  I’m sure my son didn’t notice, caught up in the moment, but I did.  As we began to walk off the court, we were the last ones; I peered towards the Bulls locker room hoping to see Buckets run out.  Then I saw somebody… Aaron Brooks, and then there he was…. Jimmy Butler.  I grabbed my son, and stopped right in their path to the court.  Ignoring Aaron Brooks, I planted my son right in front of his favorite player Jimmy Butler.  He reached down and high fived my son.  When my son turned around to look at me, his eyes were wide open… he couldn’t believe it… I couldn’t believe it.  He said, “I high fived Jimmy Butler!”.

So the High Five Club turned out to be a smashing success in the long run; still may write the letter.  I want to make sure these players realize that they can make these kids’ days by taking the time, a couple seconds running on the court, to high five each of the kids standing in line.  Although my son didn’t get any hand slaps the first time around, he got the most important one as we walked off the court.  Oh yeah, the Bulls actually won that night against the pitiful Nets, but it really didn’t matter.  We had won long before then… tonight was a good night.
