I’ve been working my way back to you babe…  With emails informing me that I have 60 days left on my website, and even less than that on my domain, it’s decision time again.  I look, and I’m 3 days behind.. am I really going to be able to keep this up?  Is this really going to be worth it in the long run?  I know I started this as therapy, and it still is, but do I really need therapy every day?  I’m not that messed up…

I’ve been busy OK.  Actually, very busy as it relates to Chicago sports.  I’ve got some stories to tell, and we start Wednesday night at the UC:  it’s Hawks vs Flyers and it’s my first Hawks game in about 2 years.

I needed something to get my dad for his birthday.  Of course I waited until the last minute.. that’s no surprise.  Looking for Hawks tickets is a hopeless endeavor.  You will be hard pressed to find tickets under $125 anywhere in the stadium, especially when you’re looking for three.  We were way overdue, well actually we just did see a movie and have some drinks, but it’s always a good time for a father-son outing, and if I was getting my dad Hawks tickets, my brother and I were rolling with him.  So, we checked the schedule…

Tuesdays and Thursdays were out, as were the weekends, since those would be more expensive tickets.  I settled on this Flyers game, and it was SRO all the way.  Standing Room Only for those wondering.  At $45 a ticket, you can’t go wrong.  I’ve never had standing room only tickets… I did stand an entire game before… that was the best game I ever attended, Game 6 of the 1992 NBA Finals.  This game wasn’t quite that memorable, but it was a good time nonetheless.

In fact, it seems that the less invasive the treatment, the more that men will be willing to understand buy cheap cialis where they are coming from, knowing that their views may be colored by factors mentioned above. We started at Billy Goat’s… as did what seemed like hundreds of other Hawks fans.  Geez, all these people have to get here early from the burbs.  They definitely don’t want to park in the streets around the stadium, so free parking at the restaurant is the way to go.  Pulling in the parking lot at 5:45, we got the last possible spot… damn, and whew.  We started pounding beer after beer after beer… just kidding.  That was the story line for many nights out, but not this one.  We did have a beer and some double cheeseburgers before walking to the UC.

Thinking we’d be able to stand by the bars on the 300 level, I was very wrong.  300 level ticket holders ONLY… damn, damn damn.  Up the stairs we went, past row 17 of the 300 level… up in the rafters.  Honestly, the view was not bad; would I have liked to sit down, sure, but we made it work.  Settling into our spot, the intros began which led right into one of the best parts of the game: the anthem.  And we’re off…

And the Hawks started fast.  As Hossa broke wide open, the entire 300 level stood, and I tried to peek over their shoulders, but I missed Hoss’s NHL active player leading 32nd short handed goal of his career.  It was sweet from the replay.  Not scoring on a 5 on 3 is never a good thing; neither is sliding across the ice like Roszival was doing… tripping over his own feet stuck in cement.  There was lots of standing still through the latter portion of the game, until about the last 5 minutes.  It was too late.  A 3-2 loss is what we ended up seeing.

Hopefully, a good lesson for the Hawks, as if they don’t know from the 2014 conference finals.  Don’t wait to play hard.  Don’t dig a hole.  Be on your A game come playoff time, or we’ll have a similar fate as 2014.  Be on your A game throughout the playoffs, and we may be repeating.  Another lesson… SRO is not so bad; just have to react quickly to the seated crowd in front of you jumping to their feet.  School is out; next night at the UC is up next.

Blackhawks lose but a night out with big bro and Dad is always welcome. Hossa shorthanded is dangerous and so is not scoring on a 5on3 power play for almost 2 minutes. Hawks losing streak continued for a few more nights, but the real season is just around the corner…road to repeat beginning soon.
