If you’ve been keeping up with the catch up, you would have noticed a theme the last few days. My migration to the west coast, the reason for my movement westwards, and a dig at the LA Queen. Yeah, it’s been an LA theme… for a reason. On Thursday, I headed back to Los Angeles.
Not for pleasure this time, but for business. It turned out that the Bulls were actually in LA playing the Clippers on Friday. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t be able to make that happen. If they had been playing on Saturday night, I would have been there. No, it wasn’t a Cubs, Bears, Bulls, or Blackhawks game that brought me out here. It wasn’t a family vacation, well, sort of. Yes, my wife and son would not be joining me on this trip, but I would see my West Coast family. Yes, I consider the people that I worked with when I lived out in LA years ago family; they are just as awesome now as they were then. Those were some really, really fun times at work.
I’ve always tried to have fun at work; I still do. Yet, it gets harder and harder to. I don’t give up though. But those days back in LA, they were effortless. We all got along; we all liked each other, at least I think we did… and still do. Yes, I would be seeing them as we move work locations… again. I was just out here 2 years ago doing the same thing; this time it would be back to downtown LA. This time in a building on the 23rd floor, with a great view. I would see it for the first time Friday morning. Thursday was all about trying to get to the current site to make any last minute preparations. Getting there would be half the battle.

Yeah, an hour and a half late getting on the plane followed by another hour and a half on the runway, kicked off my trip behind schedule. By the time I made it to LA, it was rush hour. Not like traffic is ever really good, but it would be especially bad at this time, especially on the beast that is the 405. An hour in traffic later, and I finally made it. I was greeted with hugs and handshakes; it was so good to see everybody. Yet, no time to do any work; everybody was already hungry… away we went.
Yes, it would be 5 days total in LA for the task at hand. I won’t bore you with all the details, well… maybe some of the details. I wanted to be completely current by the time I landed back in Chicago. Not sure how much longer I can stay up tonight… maybe 1 more. It was nice to be back in LA…
