March 13, 2025: Last Round

As part of the festivities for that 312 girl, we would be attending quite possibly our last Bulls game of the year. On this evening, the Chicago Bulls would host the Brooklyn Nets. For our last round, it was a battle between two “not-very-good” teams. We’re not calling a play-in bound team like the Bulls good, just for clarification, and the Nets… they’re not even on that level. Let the fun begin.

It’s been an interesting year in person watching the Bulls play. It started off pretty well, at least for 3 quarters; the Bulls were hanging with the Timberwolves. Then, the 4th quarter happened, and it turned out to be a blowout. Against Milwaukee before Christmas, the Bulls got lucky; the Bucks would be without Giannis and Dame… we still got blown out; wtf! In DC against the Wizards, surely we’d see a W; the Wizards are worse than us… worse than the Nets! Nope, another blowout the wrong direction. It wasn’t until that Monday night against the Nuggets, out of all teams, where we saw our first Bulls victory of the season; tonight would be our 2nd.

I wasn’t confident going in at all. I know we had won a couple games in a row, but come on… how can you count on the Bulls in any game, especially against a team that they should beat? The Bulls sometimes elevate their game and sneak out a win against a superior opponent, but as a favorite at home against a bum team, it doesn’t always work out like it should. The game was going about as expected; the Bulls were up by 1 point at the end of the first quarter. The Nets were up by 3 points at halftime. After the 3rd quarter, things looked bleak; the Nets held a 10 point advantage. Yep, they’re going to screw us again in person. Have no fear, the Bulls 4th quarter comeback is here. Yes, the Bulls turned the tables in the 4th quarter, outscoring the Nets 34-18 to claim a 6 point win; wowza! Usually it’s other teams making a 4th quarter surge to beat us; it was nice to see one of these go our way, especially being in the house.

Yes, it’s always better to win than to lose. As the Nets fall further into the basement, the Bulls solidify their position in 10th place in the East; what a time to be alive. I read something on Twitter the other day by Steph Noh… “The Bulls have spent 87 percent of their season in the play in spot, including 71 consecutive days in the 10 spot” Alexa, tell me the definition of mediocrity. It’s kind of nuts, but it’s all we got, and, and… actually, they have been playing better ball as of late; I think they even have a chance to win a play-in game… maybe even 2, which is most likely what it would take for the Bulls to officially make the playoffs. We’d get crushed then, but hey, it’d be fun to see an actual postseason series… Only the Bulls… only the one and only… Chicago Bulls!
