March 12th rolls around again this year, and what do we have? Sunday showed us our teams heading in opposite directions. Here we go again.
March 12th is special for me not because of the point of the season we’re at. It’s my wife’s birthday. What the heck should I get her? Here we go again.
Jewelry is never a bad choice, but that wouldn’t be the choice this time around. A gift card to her nail place is always solid, but skipped that this time too. I did get her a gift card to her hair salon; no brainer there. She was complaining about our pans the other day, so I bought her a 2 pan set from Target. Didn’t go with the whole set; probably a better idea come Black Friday and the holiday season. Still, thought this would fly; they were nice pans!
Something else she has talked about for a while was taking dance lessons together. Soooo, I finally did something about that and got us a Groupon for it. In 4 sessions, I’ll be spinning her around on the dance floor with my freshly minted Salsa moves.
A cake of course, some balloons, and a home made card from my son is always essential. Some dinner and a planned trip to the outlet malls was on the agenda; I thought I had this one pretty good. I never really can tell with her, you know, if I really knocked her birthday out of the park. I did throw her a nice party a couple years back… Well, we try, but honesty nothing can top the gift she has given me; my boy is fricking awesome.

The Hawks are pretty awesome too. Yeah, they dropped 2 in a row, including from what I read, an uninspired loss to the Wings. Rivalry gone? The new rivalry could be the Wild, and we got their ass again on Sunday pulling within one point of the top spot in the West. And finally, they only have one game in hand. It will come down to the wire I think…oh yeah, and don’t look now, the Blues are surging back.
Speaking about not looking, I couldn’t bear to watch the Bulls on this day. My west coast Celtic fan sent me a text that the Bulls bore him. My response was that, yeah, and I have to watch them every game. I have to admit, I haven’t been watching as closely lately. Thankfully I didn’t get those Lexus level seats for my wife from Friday’s game vs the Rockets: another stomping.
But we knew this was coming. The schedule was getting harder, and the Bulls are only good enough to keep around 500. Boston smacked us too on this day; I don’t think I watched more than a couple minutes. I was following along on Twitter, as Bulls Nation wallowed in despair.
Yes, the Hawks are rising and the Bulls are dropping; Sunday was a perfect symbol of that. My wife got another gift late this Sunday too; we got our first snowfall in almost three months. Happy birthday?

Definitely a case of teams moving in opposite directions. The Bhawks have been moving positively for the last 10 years almost. They are perennial threats for the Cup. The 2 game slide was due considering they had won 12 of 13 or something like that. How did they respond? Another beat down of the wild…3-1 this year. Will they meet again? We shall see, but the Bhawks are and will be ready.
As for the Bulls, another horrible loss to the celts on Sunday. I’m sure they had revenge on their mind after how they lost in the UC a few weeks ago. The Bulls managed a whopping 26 points in the entire first half…WOW! Talk about a new low. Things keep getting worse and worse. How low can the Bulls go? I guess another season not making the playoffs would be rock bottom, and that is a real possibility, even in the weak east where a .500 or slightly below record should do. Come on Bulls, get your shit together! Make the damn playoffs at least before an offseason tear down.
