55 games in… A third of the way home. The Cubs and Sox have opposite records. The Cubs sit at 30-25, while the Sox come in at 25-30. How did we get here?
Admittedly, I haven’t watched as much baseball as I’d like. Whenever I can, I’m flipping the Cubs game on either at home or on the radio in the car. 162 games is a long season. Is it too many games? I don’t think so. Heck, you see more and more people complain about the NBA season and it’s only half as long. The same goes with the hockey season. The NFL is the only sport where we talk about actually extending the season. As I mentioned before, I’d love to watch every game of each one of my teams, but that’s a pipe dream.
Still, I know what the Cubs and Sox have done day in and day out. Obviously more interested in the Cubs result and how it happened, I always check the Sox too…trying not to be happy when I see them lose. It’s definitely a rivalry. I’m all about Chicago, but it’s hard for me to root for the Sox when my love sits with the Cubs. That’s a talk for another day…
Back to the season thus far… The Cubs are right where they should be. Yeah, I know it’s not first place, and actually currently third place, but they’re above .500 and in the wild card hunt. It’s still the Cards as usual in first, and the Bucs battling with the Cubs for second. Cubs got a nice 3-1 series victory in Washington this weekend. Sky is the limit here.

The Sox have disappointed thus far. Currently in last place, they have some work to do. It’s actually the Twinkies in first place; that’s a shocker. They’ve been playing a little better lately, but need to string some series wins together to get back in it. In all the season previews, including right here, the Sox were tabbed for something better than this…better than the Cubs possibly. Long way to go.
I’ll be going into more detail once the Blackhawks are done. Until then, a quick blurb will have to suffice. Lots to say, little time to do so.
But whatever team you’re a fan of, keep hope. There’s still 107 games to go. Baseball season is just getting going.

There should be a way where the Sox/Cubs could just swap players. The most recent that sits on my mind is Lester/Smardja (whatever). Thus far, both have been disappointments for their respective teams. I never thought Sm was worth the bucks, but did like the Lester deal. A lot of $$ out there for a combined 8-8 record, and a 3.86 (L) and 4.93(S) respective ERA’s. Lester just needs to roll into shape, but I think Sm should go to the bullpen and fill a long relief role until he figures it out.

Chicago Championship runs end in June. Both baseball teams improved from 2014, but neither baseball team is winning anything in 2015, and make no mistake, the Bears are going to suck! People still talking football on the radio, ridiculous.
