Sounds like a good theme for the Cubs season… limp on. There will be good moments, like when the Cubs beat the Cardinals in this past weekend’s series in St. Louis, and there will be bad moments, like the Reds beating us on Tuesday night at Wrigley, but overall, this train ain’t moving forward. It will be an uphill climb all year, one that will finish below sea (500) level… one that will finish near the bottom of the standings, not only in our division, but in the entire MLB. Just remember: we chose this.
For anyone interested, Rizzo and Schwarber have both been mashing; Baez has been scuffling, while Bryant has been injured. Just like Coach Q and Thibs, I will not let this go… probably ever. The Cubs chose not to pay anyone, and now, are trying to hype us up to vote for Ian Happ as an All Star… really? Hey, I do think the Cubs have an all-star on their roster… for now. Contreras is one of the best catchers in the league, which is exactly why he’s playing his last days in a Cubs uniform. The Cubs aren’t done driving this thing into the ground, completing obliterating everything related to the freshly ended Golden Era. Having fun yet?
It was fun to beat St. Louis; that’s always fun. How pitiful do you have to be to let the Cubs come into your home stadium and beat you? Weak ass division leaders that will be dispatched immediately in the playoffs, but hey, at least they’ll be in the postseason, a place where I was getting used to seeing the Cubs. Not sure when we’ll see that again, but per Jed, the Cubs will spend when the time is right… or whatever BS he’s trying to sell us. When you’re the Chicago Cubs and have money coming out of your ass, the time is right every, single, year. Isn’t that what we were sold? Perennial playoff contenders? Isn’t that what we had? Uh, yeah… So… why did we decide being one of the worst teams in the majors is better? Mind boggling, but I’m thinking of something that rhymes with honey… Cheap ass bastards; sorry, I can’t let it go…
I’ll try though… another visit to Wrigley is long overdue. I think I may be heading there soon. Supposed to be some beautiful nights this week, just like Tuesday was at the cathedral. I’d like to see Kyle pitch; I’d like to see Willson play one more time before he joins another team. I’d like to see a W; I’d like to sing that song. I’m happy that 2016 happened…so happy; I’ll cherish that forever… it may be my only one… At this point, this whole limping thing… may be the new perennial activity for our Cubbies, until of course, the “time is right”… Until then, keep that money in your bank accounts, instead of putting it on the field, where it belongs. Nothing will stop me from loving my Cubs though… and that’s exactly what they bank on, that and beautiful Wrigley Field…
