June 28, 2017: Drama

posted in: Cubs | 1

As if there hasn’t been enough drama the past week… the perceived great clubhouse of the Cubs got a sudden jolt on Wednesday.  Miggy was DFA’d for comments after Tuesday’s loss.  Is this the first chink in the armor?

I guess that would have been the whole Addison Russell situation, which has now led to a divorce of the young couple.  What ever happened with that anyway?  Yes, it seems to have went away, just like Russell and the Cubs would like it. What really happened?  Only the couple really knows.  I remember when that story broke thinking, that’s why he’s been struggling.  And then, there’s the first tarnish on the squeaky clean Cubs rep.

Yet, that’s not entirely true either, considering the drama around the Chapman acquisition last year.  I remember all the nay sayers, not Gale Sayers, back then.  Everybody looking for something.  The Cubs were looking to win, and they did.  And now Chappy is gone, but the drama isn’t.

It was a different type of drama this time around.  Montero ran his mouth after the Nationals had 7 stolen bases on his watch Tuesday night.  Of course, anybody who knows, knows it’s a combo effor there between the pitcher and the catcher.  Jake is not the quickest to the plate, and Miggy has not thrown out anybody all year.  There’s blame to pass around for sure, but that’s not something you do publically.  This wasn’t the first time Montero opened his mouth.

The day of the World Series parade for God’s sake.  I’m guessing he was half in the bag when he did the interview, but he dogged out Maddon.  I thought that was really uncalled for then, but in my state of euphoria, didn’t really care about what this guy had to say.

I hit rewind to see what they levitra 60 mg http://hartbuildersinc.com/html/bathrooms.html were talking about. Yes, Miggy, just like any 2016 Cub, will forever be remembered.  His grand slam in the NLCS…man, that was special.  His insurance run single that we ended up needing in Game 7 will certainly never be forgotten.  I will not crap on him.  That being said, I will not miss him either.

That’s a big reason why the Cubs acted so swiftly when they dismissed him.  He’s not good, unlike the wearegood hashtag he was famous for.  It was an easy call, considering that, his previous diarrhea of the mouth, and the ire of the Cubs clubhouse leader Rizzo.  I was more worried about where the Cubs go from here.

Understanding that they’re not really going to miss Miggy’s performance, I also understand how important team chemistry in that clubhouse is; we all should after last year.  Will we be thanking Miggy for providing this spark that we needed?  Why do we have to constantly try to find sparks to get us going?  Aren’t we better than that?  Or, maybe this is just the beginning. Maybe this will create clubhouse drama that will hinder this team’s performance going forward?  What are everyone’s true thoughts on the matter?

I say he ends up with the Sox, wouldn’t that be something?  Guy at work said he’d hit a game winning home run in the crosstown series, and the Cubs would miss the playoffs by one game; yes, he’s a Sox fan.  I wish Miggy good luck wherever he goes, as long as our paths don’t cross.  If they do, then I hope he sucks.

Yet, he’ll always have a place in my heart. Regardless of where you sit on the whole ordeal, I think we can at least all agree on that.  I’d like to bring up something else we can all agree on, and that’s my opinion of Wednesday night’s starter.  Let’s get current!

Miggy, miggy, miggy, cant you see, sometimes your words just mystify me…hahaha! Really miggy? I know how pissed you had to have been after going 0-7 on top of 0 for the year, but to speak publicly to the media and slam Jake, come on man! What’s the saying? If you have nothing good to say, keep your mouth shut. Thing is, this isnt your first go around running your mouth. You got something to say, figure out in the clubhouse. You didnt so now you’re gone. Thanks for last year, miggy! Best of luck wherever you go (north of the border). #youaregone
