June 27, 2021: What the Hell

Anything going on with the Blackhawks lately? Well, not much in the way of their current roster and/or the team’s future performance, but there has certainly been a lot of noise about an incident that took place 11 years ago. What the hell?!?!

Yes, 11 years ago puts us in 2010, a very good year for the Blackhawks. Seeing the Hawks win the Cup for the first time in my lifetime was awesome. I guess this is why these allegations were pushed so far underneath the carpet? Worst case… absolutely worst, worst case to not impact the team’s performance in the Stanley Cup Finals is to immediately start a confidential investigation, waiting until the summer for it to go public? But to push it off, to basically ignore it, then go ahead and give this dude a positive referral to get another job elsewhere, where he does the same damn thing, this time to a younger kid…. that’s some straight up bullshit.

Have we not learned anything from the Catholic Church? The scandals that ended up crippling the Church should have been nipped in the bud very early on. By not doing so, by moving the “problem” around, it turned into something even more horrific. Once is bad enough; multiplying that… because it wasn’t addressed properly the first time it was reported… ugly, ugly, ugly.

There are many factors, responsible for men’s erectile dysfunction. And now, the Blackhawks will hire an independent agency to conduct an investigation; 11 years too late! Who knew about this? It sounds like a lot of people did. I’m sure there were players that knew too. Did Coach Q know? What about Bowman? I’m sure there will be a lot of deny, deny, deny at this point. I’m sure more and more details will continue to come to the surface, but none of it is going to be pretty. Anybody in a management position that knew about this should no longer be employed, period.

I’m sure it’s rough to bring something like this up as the victim. Here you are, a grown man (maybe 20s?), complaining about a sexual assault from another grown man, but does the age and gender really matter? It’s different, but yet, it’s the same. It’s assault, abuse, and needed to be handled that way from jump. To hear your cry for help fall on deaf ears, and essentially thrown out the door… that’s just bad… no way around that one. To the guys who did the brushing under the carpet, just remember… shit floats… No matter how hard you tried to dismiss it, ignore it… you should have addressed it. Because of the way this was handled, or not handled, this person went on to sexually assault another kid… is it serious enough now?

The Blackhawks franchise was on the rise, winning its first out of three Cups that year. I get that you want to keep everything positive, all good stuff, everything on the up and up; of course, that’s what you want. However, things happen that are not according to YOUR plan; things happen that must be addressed, no matter what type of publicity comes with it. If the Blackhawks nipped this in the bud back when it was first reported, another kid, probably kids, may have been saved. In fact, it could have been GOOD publicity for the Blackhawks, going after this bad apple inside the locker room. This should have been done and over with. But now, here we sit, 11 years later, talking about some ugly shit. I feel for the victim, victims; shit ain’t fair. It wasn’t the Blackhawks fault that this guy is a sicko; it IS their fault that they didn’t realize this after it was reported to them and act on it accordingly. There is no denying that, and somebody should be held accountable for it. More to come…
