It’s kind of funny… when I left Illinois and travelled to Nevada, I was unable to place a bet on my Draft Kings account. That was cool though. If I felt the need, all I had to do was walk into a Vegas sportsbook and place a wager… the “old-fashioned” way. I didn’t though; was poker focused for a few days… taking a step away from my $1 bets on Draft Kings… But now, back to Chicago, back to bets!
While in Vegas, I like to review all the futures; I grab a sheet for each sport and look through it as I sit down by the pool. The last few times, I’ve had another set of eyes look at it with me: my 11 year old son. It’s fun. We each have our pens, circling our choices after discussion. I definitely am creating a monster; he can definitely hold his own talking sports already. Will I act on any of our choices? Maybe. I didn’t place the bet I was going to on the Bears win total this year; over 7.5??? I like it… of course. There are a few other futures that look tasty… no other ones for Chicago teams though. Still not buying the Cubs (of course no confidence in the Sox either); actually think the Reds may take the division… looking good due to their recent win streak. Some semi-long shots in the NBA are interesting; maybe Memphis? Chargers in the AFC West possibly. We’ll see…
I did jump right back into bets on Saturday; I took Ian Happ to hit a HR against Wainwright and the Cardinals in London. His history vs Wainwright and the Cards was very good, plus, figure there’d be runs as the MLB is exposing a new audience to the game, so… I hit it; Happ actually went deep twice. Good way to continue the baseball only chapter. I dropped a few on Sunday, but then hit the Angels against the Sox, and the under in that same game on Monday night… keep creeping up towards that $20 plateau, where I can increase my bets to $2!!! Haha…
It’s still fun, and not consuming my time & energy, other than maybe 15 minutes per day reading through some stuff. I have my investment back, and my winnings in the bank… so that helps too. Would love to build this little balance up, up, up… in preparation of football season, but will most likely take advantage of another promotion at another online sportsbook for the start of the NFL season. We’ll see. Still kind of itching to play some poker… waiting for the guy from work to host a poker party, or maybe another trip to a casino this summer, or… maybe just on my iPad on Pokerist winning millions of dollars in funny money. I always need to get my competitive fix in; I’ve accepted it. As long as I’m not pissing away a lot of money doing so… but you know, have to lose some to win some, so…
