June 23, 2022: Leaving Las Vegas

Ah, leaving Las Vegas.. kind of catchy. They should make a movie about that, maybe a song… I hate leaving Las Vegas… Honestly, I think there was only 1 trip out of my dozens that I actually wanted to leave; losing over 2K could do that to you I guess. But yes, even these days, on the family trips to the desert, it still sucks to go.

We did do other things besides gamble of course. There were the days by the pool with my father in law; I loved seeing my son and him talk sports. We went to Cosmopolitan on Monday night. They have what’s called a “Dive-In Movie”… really cool. They show a movie on the big screen by their pool; you can go swimming, sit in the hot tub, or just sit and eat and drink, while watching the show; this year it was Aquaman. My son absolutely loved it; we did too. Tuesday night was time for a show. Most of the better shows don’t start showing until Wednesday night, but, there were still a bunch to choose from. Magic, Elvis, or Cirque show? We ended up going to see KA at the MGM. Again, my son loved it; not sure if I can say the same. I mean, when you’re drinking most of the day, sitting or walking in 90+ degree weather, when you give me a nice comfortable seat in a dark, air-conditioned theater… forget about it. I caught a few elbows during the show… haha. We stopped at the M&M store, ate at Dave’s Famous Chicken, got a Giordano’s personal pizza for the room, and that was that. Oh yeah, I did gamble one more evening…

I was up, so I was feeling pretty good. I joined that same $100 tourney. It was down to less than 2 tables when my all-in moment arrived. I had 8-5 off-suit; the only reason I was in the hand was because I was the big blind. No raises, so… Well, flop came 8, 5, A. Guy goes all in, I call. I had his A dominated, until the turn that is. He turned trips, while we both filled up on the river; his was bigger than mine, and I was going home, just short of my 2nd final table in a row. Have no fear, I’m still up. Yeah, but my degenerate ass only gets to Vegas once a year, so damn right I’m going to roll it. Cash game at Caesar’s was going well, until the Coronas started adding up, making me think I was smarter than I actually am, calling some dumb shit, busting out. Oh well, I’m still up… until I walked into the Flamingo; just couldn’t go back to the room, huh? Haha… Heck no; we’re in Vegas man! I want to either win big or lose big… that’s the old me talking. I’m totally fine with breaking even, and that’s what I pretty much did; think I may have lost $40 or something like that overall, but still… very positive on the gambling front.

My father in law picked us up to take us to the airport; we stopped at In N Out for lunch. Tick, tock, tick, tock… our Vegas trip was over. I always love Las Vegas; this trip just reminded me again, how much I love this place. Until next time Papa… I’m coming back guns blazing… haha. Viva Las Vegas!!!
