I don’t only play poker in Vegas; I like the other table games too. Yeah, I’ll throw some money in some slots too, because, you know, when in Rome… but always feel like that’s a waste of money. Of course, seeing my wife just hit $500 gave me hope… false hope it turns out. The brainless task of just hitting the button is cool, especially when you don’t want to think, but… where are the waitresses? You have to time it just right, to sit down right when the waitress is there so you can get a free drink before dropping your $20, although if you’re losing $20… then I guess that beer wasn’t free. Anyways…
I like to play Roulette too; problem with that nowadays is that it’s too rich for my blood, at least where I’m staying in the evenings. $25 minimum per spin? That’s ridiculous. First of all, I play 7 numbers each and every time, and then, on a $10 minimum table, pick 3 random ones. If I’m getting $5 chips to play, to meet the minimum, then… I’m playing $35 per spin, because you know damn well I’m not going to NOT play one of my numbers, because you know damn well THAT will be the number that hits. So $35 a spin? If my numbers don’t hit, I’m gone in 3 spins? No thank you. I did see it $10 in the morning, which is family time, so… However, later that 2nd night, when we ended up at Tropicana, I did see tables that were more reasonable. $10 a spin is more my speed. Based on this, guess I need to stay off the strip, or further down one end or the other? That’s why I want to stay downtown; I know most of those casinos would have the lower minimums. Shit, I’m looking for $5 single/double deck Blackjack; I know I can find it, but not at midnight when I don’t want to walk/taxi around; I want to play where I’m at, or close by, period. Maybe Flamingo is on its last legs with me…
Speaking of poker, of course, that room is gone from Flamingo; I bitched about that last year when I found that out. I couldn’t believe it. Thankfully, a short walk across the street to Caesars is doable, which is where I was again on night two in Vegas. This time, no tourney, but cash game; bring it on! It didn’t go well… I played like total dog shit. I was just not on my game. Betting when I should have checked, not betting when I should have took down a pot… I was doing everything the opposite, and it showed; another losing night in the books. But if that first night in Vegas is historically my worst, the last night in Vegas is historically my best. I’ve made some pretty huge comebacks before on that final night before leaving the desert. Don’t really have to recover a whole lot of losses this time, so it was doable. Time to take full advantage of that final night in Vegas 2023.
