As the 2015 Father’s Day comes to an end, let’s celebrate. Let’s celebrate the fathers in our lives, not only today, but everyday.
What about mothers? Well, yeah, we should celebrate them year round too. After all, without them, there wouldn’t be fathers. So first things first.
Then comes the kid or kids. They make it official. They make that title appropriate, well sort of. That’s true, but to really embrace that title, we need to take it to another level. You know what I mean.
Forget about your selfish desires… Bye bye. No more golf outings on Father’s Day. Thankfully, the US Open was on the west coast. I actually watched golf for the first time in a long time. I saw a guy completely choke. He did something I do on almost every hole I play: the dreaded three putt. That’s the worst isn’t it? You make a decent drive, then pull a great second shot out of your butt, and you’re on the green. Then starts the fun. That’s to be expected of us amateurs, but not from a pro on the biggest stage. I actually caught a highlight of him missing a ton of putts. Bad day? I say choke. Brutal way to end it. But then they showed his wife and baby… That’s what it’s all about anyways.
No more just hanging out with your pops either. You’re a father now for god’s sake with a family of your own. You have your father in law to think about too. It’s a combo platter like most holidays. Running here and there, and then oh yeah, there’s other stuff going on too. How did life get so busy?
The chats, forums and blogs have become the favorite haunts buy cheap levitra foea.org for exchanging potent information. Not too busy to check my fantasy baseball lineup. I made some moves last night and pulled out a big win over a yearly rival. Not too busy to peek in on the cubs and sox scores. The next Ryne Sandberg, Gordon Beckham that is, hit a walk off homer to send sox fans home happy. Still in the basement, but it’s a step. Then those Cubs, who led by my pitcher Jake with a complete game shutout, equalled their best record of the year, 7 games over.
It was too busy to get my blog out, although we’re handling that now. Don’t want to start the week too far behind. This is my therapy after all. For all the whirlwind lives we lead, everybody needs some. Hope you got yours, and hopefully it’s legal. Haha.
But back to what it’s all about today, and that’s the dads. Playing catch in the backyard growing up with my dad was THE best thing about this day…although that took place quite often…like I said, it’s much more than just this day. It’s 365-24-7. We never close.
I hope my son remembers his days with me like I remember my days with mine. Still many more of those to go by the way. So today, maybe my son will remember 17 flips: the number of flips he did with his whale in the bathtub as we washed away the dirt of the day. Because of everything that’s going on, this is what it’s all about. Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads!

Father’s Day turned into a working day to start. Its monsoon season in Illinois if you didn’t know, and rained out softball games have been the norm all summer so far. It poured Saturday night and we were scheduled to play at 11AM Sunday. The other coach texted me a pic at 8:30AM. Two 25 foot puddles on the field. He said it could be done with some work. So I hustled out there with my squegee to go along with rakes at the field. 90 minutes later the sun came out and GAME ON! Not the ideal fathers day start 2 hours in, and on my 2nd shirt, socks, and cleats.
Well, my 9U girls fast pitch team all got to the park early ready to warm up, our 3rd game in as many days, my daughter had the tunes blaring, and it was show time. AND a show they put on! It was the best complete game on both sides of the ball that I’ve seen them play so far in there short 4 year careers Definitely the best that league has seen all year. 3 double plays turned, they got out of 2 bases loaded jams with no outs and no runs scored, they hit 7 doubles, 1 triple, and 3 HR’s with one by my daughter (2 went of about 140′, not her). They all were amazing and it contagiously spread even to the kids who struggle at times. I could go on and on about Sunday morning. Final Score 16-0, there 4th shutout in the last 6 games. A record of 14-0 on the season and have outscored their opponents 177 to 41. HAPPY FATHERS DAY! I could of floated home.
I almost felt bad for the other team and there 5 man coaching staff. They had that deer in the head light look as my girls pounded them again and again and made every play in the field. Lucky for them there is a 5 run limit per inning.

That sounds like an awesome Father’s Day, and even better season. Congrats to you coach and your undefeated juggernaut! Now only if you could help the Sox…:)

Million dollar MLB babies, no Thanks. I’d fire lots them on the Sox and half the other teams in the majors. No play No PAY! They’d all start playing better and you’d see a way better product everywhere.
