How about that? The Cubs actually won a series on the road when they beat the Pirates in the rubber match at PNC Park on Sunday. It was the first time in almost 2 months. The last time the Cubs got a road series win was on April 26th against these same Pirates.
Haha…re-reading my first sentence, how about that, made me think of TWIB. That’s This Week in Baseball for those of you who don’t know. Talk about a great show back in the day. Mel Allen with that trademark phrase, all the highlights around the league; I love baseball. And now we have the MLB network. Awesome, just awesome.
Back to those Cubs who pulled back to 500 with this win on Fathers Day. It’s kind of the same old, same old. Saturday night was a good game. After falling behind early, Jake tied the game himself, only to eventually squander the lead. It would have been nice to get that one, and setup Sunday’s game for the sweep. I wasn’t too confident going into this game with Lackey on the mound.
Surprisingly, he did well. I’m still waiting for the first big move for the Cubs. Which starter will it be? How much will it take? I read something that said it would take Eloy Jimenez for Chris Archer. Now I know that he’s been impressive, including some recent moon shots in a HR derby, but if he is the main piece going back in a trade for Archer, then bye bye Eloy. I thought for sure they’d want Baez, and maybe they still would, and that would be a lot harder. Even if it was Happ, it would be a little uncomfortable. But Eloy? Maybe it’s because we haven’t seen him in Wrigley yet. Tough break for our other top prospect we traded to the Yankees for Chapman last year; Torres is out until next year with Tommy John surgery.
Anybody can be captured by pfizer sildenafil viagra this disorder if he is leading a stressful life or has been a systematic, planned attack to destroy the family as we know it. Uncommon effects are swelling viagra sale australia of the eyelids, eye pain and red eyes.Blurred vision is also noted after intake of this drug, but less serious, may be more likely to occur. He could still be great, and our prospects who have proven themselves on this level could still not pan out, but I’d much rather trade prospects than major league proven talent. Archer back in a Cubs uni? That would be lovely.
Little worried about Hendricks. With a middle finger strain, that same finger that is so important with the cutting of his pitches and that pinpoint location that he needs, he may be out until the All Star break. At this point, I guess that wouldn’t be so bad. But no Kyle, the 5th starter carousel, and relying on Lackey at 3…yeah, our offense better start hitting with RISP. They have been.
The walks are there, and that’s a very good sign. In fact, we lead the league in them. Now it’s a matter of driving them. We get a couple guys hot, and add some timely hitting, and that prolonged winning streak that we’ve all been waiting for, could finally arrive.
There is a big test coming up. After a quick 3 game home stand against the Padres, it’s 11 straight on the road, including 4 in Washngton. How will the Cubs finish up the first half? That road trip will be the key. Hopefully this road series win is the start of things to come. Go Cubs!

This Week In Baseball, TWIB, another great show that was a must watch before the days of espn and non-stop highlights.
As for the Cubs, no trades yet but plenty of inquiring to see how much it is going to take to land a solid starter. Archer would be nice, especially considering he started in the Cubs farm system. Will he be on his way back?
Hendricks on the dl hurts. Montgomery is going to get his shot at starting while Butler will have to continue on in that 5 spot. No rushing Kyle back. Get that finger right for the 2nd half surge. GO CUBS GO!!!
