June 17, 2024: Number Eighteen

posted in: Bulls | 0

Well, it finally happened. The tie between the Lakers and Celtics for most NBA championships in franchise history has been broken. The Boston Celtics won number eighteen on Monday night, defeating the Mavericks, and mercifully ending one of the worst NBA Finals in history. Good riddance to the NBA!

First off, the Bulls sucked ass again. Another play-in game is just not acceptable. But hold on, Lonzo Ball will start the season on the court… yeah ok. The Bulls are in a bad spot. They are standing still while the rest of the NBA is getting better. I really don’t see a path to success any time soon, but I really don’t see a lot of things either. We’re stuck on number six. Don’t be mad because we’re stuck, be happy because it happened. I’ll take the 90s Bulls with MJ against any other team in NBA history, even this “mighty” 2024 Celtics squad.

Mighty in parentheses is like “Mighty Mouse”, because these Celtics ain’t that great in the big scheme of things. Sure, they were the best team this year, by far, but pairing them up against other NBA champs… they would NOT fare well. But what does that matter? They won and that’s that. I’m just happy the Lakers aren’t on top of that list any more. I’d prefer the Celtics weren’t either, but lesser of two evils, you know?

I hate to see the Warriors ahead of the Bulls in all-time NBA titles. Remember, it wasn’t all the Curry Warriors. Yes, there were 3 titles before Steph and crew came into town. The Warriors actually won the first NBA title of all time; well bravo to them, old bastards. So, 4 titles for the most recent Warrior teams, which by my quick math, is less than 6, so… we all know the MJ Bulls would kick their sorry asses. Can you tell I’m a little bitter?

This NBA Finals was an absolute joke. The Mavs were a fraud, period; there is no way around it. Sure, the Celtics were “great” and all, but the Mavs… threw up on themselves, which made for such an exciting series… yawn. Yes, they did win a game, strictly because the Celtics wanted to win it in Boston; Game 4 was a joke. Yet part of me, was looking at the Mavs in Game 5; thank God I didn’t bet on those bums. I did lose my over 5.5 games series bet, but… minimal damage. Luka resorted back to being a baby, and Kyrie resorted to, well… whatever he was after he left Cleveland. The role players… they all suck. I’m really acting like I lost a lot of money on the Mavs…

OK, so the 2023-2024 NBA season is over; I won’t miss it. Sure, I made some money during the regular season, but the playoffs were a train wreck. I’m glad to turn my attention to baseball, with an eye on the NFL season, and oh yeah, the NHL Finals that are still going on, at least for one more game. Congrats Celtics on 18? Hell no…
