June 17, 2016: Ready

My iPhone said 5:00. It was Friday morning and I was up. Had work on the brain; sometimes when I walk my dog in the morning, an idea may strike me. Sometimes this idea is about work, and sometimes it’s about my blog. It used to me more about this, but now it’s more about that. Sometimes that gets me mad.

Getting ready, deciding what to wear is always fun.  Luckily, I can pretty much wear whatever I want to work. Nobody is going to tell me anything. Today, with the weather calling for 90, I put back the pair of jeans and grabbed a pair of shorts. Yeah, that’s ok too. Now for a shirt…I really didn’t want to iron. Cubs jersey it is. Now I was ready.

Ready to go to the Cubs game it looked like. I should have.  I need to go back. 1-1 in my appearances this year, I need to get over 500; God know the Cubs are. I need to get back in Wrigley. I was looking to make another road trip; have some hotel points that are going to expire. Schedule doesn’t really line up. Pittsburgh would work, but we were just there last year. I wanted to do Cincy, or maybe St. Louis; may wait until September.  Going to play it by ear…see how the season develops. See if maybe the magic number zeroing out game lines up. This season is certainly going down that path.

Maybe I just wait. Maybe I just save up some money. Maybe I save my pennies for that game…the potential World Series clinching game.  Yes, maybe I’m too far ahead of myself, but that thought is always in the back of my mind. Then I think, I’d rather be home watching it with family. At the end of the day, if that day arrives, I don’t care where I watch it.

Life is short. Life has passed many people by who didn’t get to see that game.  I don’t want that to happen to me. I don’t think it will.

As I sit in my office, and look down LaSalle, I can’t see it, but I know that Wrigley is packed. I know that on this beautiful afternoon there are few places I’d rather be.  But I’m here…in my office…busting my hump. Ready?  Yeah, I am.

Once in a lifetime…that has passed many people by as far as the Cubs winning a World Series title. Hopefully, it will not pass us by this year, let alone our lifetime. The whole summer is still ahead of the Cubs, but they look damn good, and how sWeet would it be to be World Champions? I want to experience it. I want to live it. I want next year to be here and now so nobody else can call the Cubs the loveable losers ever again…GO CUBS GO!!!
