I’m not sure what shows you listen to throughout the week, but if it was about golf at any point, I’m sure the US Open was the main topic. And, if there was one golfer who was front and center, that golfer would have been Scottie Scheffler; rightfully so. The dude had been on absolute fire lately. Other than the whole “jail incident” that ended up derailing his performance that weekend, he’s been money. Listening to everybody talk about who would win this year’s US Open, there was only one… sure thing Scheffler. Well, you know what they say about sure things…
He almost didn’t even make the cut! He ended up finishing tied for 41st for the weekend. Not sure if you could have bet on him finishing top 50, but you probably would have had to lay like -5000. There is NO sure thing. All the folks betting him to win, to finish top 5, top 10, top 20… tying any and all of these bets to future parlays… poof… up in smoke it goes! Thankfully, even after listening to this shit all week long, and feeling like… hey, let me get in on this action… I did NOT. Sometimes the best bet you make is the one you don’t. Take that to the bank.
It ended up being DeChambeau winning it all; I did get to catch a little bit of the Sunday’s action. I don’t really have feelings on any of these guys one way or another, but I kind of wanted McIlroy; blowing that putt on 18 was absolutely brutal, which opened the door for Bryson. I guess people don’t like him because he’s a LIV guy? I can’t keep this golf shit straight… kind of like my drives off the tee… ba da dum! Yeah, about that… I need to get out soon. Not sure about a golf getaway this year; that certainly doesn’t appear in the cards. But maybe one 18? I do want to take my son to the driving range. At least mini-golf?!?!
I used to hate watching golf; I guess I got into it a bit more once I started to play… and oh yeah, when Tiger Woods was playing. I definitely watched more back then, but now? Not so much. If I happen to be in front of the TV and it’s on, I’ll rotate it, but I do not make an effort. Why do you care how much I watch golf? Haha… The whole point of this whole thing is that Scottie Scheffler, and for that matter NOBODY, is a sure thing. I think that can apply to any individual/sport we’re talking about, unless it’s the Celtics this year… or Michael Jordan back in the day. Yes, I will find a way to work Michael Jordan into everything I write about… Certainly Scottie is no MJ, but… he’s still #1 in the world, and there is another golf tourney this year, so… bounce back time? I wouldn’t bet on it.
