Another month in the books. As the calendar gets ready to flip to August, our baseball teams are not in contention. Our hunger for Bears season to begin is starting to build.
The Sox are keeping it interesting at least, but at the end of the day, they are just a .500 team. Over the last 10 games, that’s exactly what they are. They sit at 4 games under overall, and 8 games out of first. This is not an impossible task for a team to overcome, but for the Sox, it’s unlikely. They can’t only play Houston and Minnesota from here on out. As the trade deadline arrives, no moves have been made on the South Side. They appear to be standing pat, choosing not to be buyers or sellers. Is settling for mediocrity worse than another season in the dumpster?
This is where the Cubs are headed. As they battle the Rockies for the worst record in the NL, the Cubs appear to be well on their way to another 90+ loss season. Trading 2 of your 3 best pitchers away didn’t help. We knew if that happened, this team was going to take a hit. Even if that didn’t happen, how good was this team going to be? I think .500 would have been high water mark. As the Cubs make a couple more moves (bye bye Barney and welcome Felix), there must be at least one more on the horizon. I really hope this is the last season like this in a long time.
That takes us to what we’re looking forward to on this last day of July: Bears football. Since losing the Super Bowl, the Bears have missed the playoffs in 6 of the last 7 years. This is totally unacceptable. We do not deserve this type of performance. This city, us fans, deserve to be IN the playoffs 6 out of 7 years. I think we can start that type of streak here.
Plus you have abundant flavor choice which is hardly found in viagra 100 mg any drugs. Most importantly, viagra online from india is quite easy to obtain as you can levitra on a multitude of websites. They longing to getting viagra online have everything which attracts others . Factors prescription viagra such as depression and fatigue can also be common causes. That’s what I listen to on the radio: playoffs or bust for the Bears this year. Well, I would think so. There is no reason why this team should come up short of the postseason again. With the schedule laid out in front of us this year, 11-5 is a real possibility. Of course I have higher expectations than just the playoffs… I always think the ultimate prize, no matter how unrealistic that may be. This year, I don’t think that’s too far removed from reality.
Our offense should be solid. I’ve talked about the need for Cutler to come out and have a big-time year. I’ve also talked about how we have nobody behind him. So, if he gets hurt, our season is in jeopardy…again. Haven’t we learned our lesson? In that same breath, look at the RBs on the roster behind Forte. Go ahead, look. Yeah, so arguably the 2 most important positions on the field, are the 2 positions that we have the least depth. So more than any other year, health is key.
Our defense is really the question mark. Coming off the worst season on that side of the ball in a long time, the defense must improve. It doesn’t half to be in the top 10, but the middle of the pack is the goal. With Tillman, Jennings, & Briggs back, along with additions of Allen, Houston, Fuller, and Wilson, the defense looks to be improved…on paper. This is all we’re talking about: the Bears on paper. There are 16 games to be played to determine if these predictions hold true or not.
The Bears need to be good. Help us get over the baseball season, and bridge that gap to the Hawks & Bulls. Wow, bridge that gap to the Hawks and Bulls??? They are the teams with the best shots are titles this year, but the Bears come in at #3. At the end of the day, this is a Bears town, and when they’re winning, things are good. Preseason game #1 coming soon…

Jay Cutler will be the MVP or is that Joshua Cutler?
