Yeah… it was time to finish that cigar tonight… If the Rizzo trade yesterday ripped the band-aid off, today took that unhealed wound and poured alcohol on it… then set it on fire. Today was the day us Cubs fans were knowingly lead into some abandoned garage, except it wasn’t Valentine’s Day. Our Golden Era boys were dumped before our eyes. The window was broken, slammed shut. The best team in most of our lifetimes, who am I kidding, unless you’re fucking 120 years old, all of our lifetimes, was blown to smithereens… and us along with them. This wasn’t how it was supposed to go…
It wasn’t a nice, relaxing smoke today; it was a pissed off one… aggressively dragging on that Dominican. I’m pissed off, and nothing is going to change that, nobody is going to put some stupid bullshit ass spin on it to make me feel any better. It figures you know… The Cubs finally got their shit together, and then they blew it; they threw it away, only to start over again. As if we haven’t tried that multiple times in my life. Newsflash: it’s only worked one time out of, what, a dozen attempts. I’m a gambling man, but I don’t like those odds. Shit, I have to be one of the most positive fans out there, but man, right now… I don’t see any silver lining in sight, and frankly, I don’t care to see one.
Rizzo, Baez, and Bryant all gone within 24 hours… discarded… for nobody in particular. For all I know, we dumped 3 of the best players in Cubs history for Derrick May, Mike Harkey, Earl Cunningham, Corey Patterson, Felix Pie, Josh Vitters, and Brett Jackson. We get zero major league talent back for our core; zip, zero, zilch, nada… WTF. I don’t care who any of those guys are, really, I don’t. Will I be rooting for them one day? I hope so. I will root for anybody in a Cubs uniform, period, always. It’s not their fault the higher ups just jagged away the only team in 100+ years to bring us a World Series. Shit… more than ever, will I be clinging to that one holy grail in 2016. Who knows when we’ll sniff another…

I will cherish Kyle and Willson as long as they are still here; they are still here right? Yeah, Jake and Jason are still here too. Anybody from that team are legends, forever, regardless of what they’ve done since then. Jake’s done; he was phenomenal, but there ain’t nothing left…. yet… seeing him pitch one more time in Wrigley is the only motivating factor right now making me want to go see a game. I said I wanted to before the season… to give thanks in a way. Lord knows I’m not interested in seeing another Jason Heyward AB, ever, in person or on TV… but thanks for the rain delay speech Jhey.
I am not in a good frame of mind, and until the Cubs sign somebody worth a shit in the offseason, I can’t see getting out of it. Will they sign somebody? Will anybody want to come here after the massacre we just witnessed today? I got to be honest… it’s going to be tough mustering up any excitement right now. Honestly, I just want to listen to Pat and Ron… the only guys talking Cubs right now that I trust or like for that matter. Tell me it’s going to be OK Pat, Ron… tell me it’s going to be OK…
