July 24, 2016: Impressions

posted in: Cubs, White Sox | 1

On the eve of the Crosstown Classic, let’s get zoned in.  Let’s zone in on our baseball teams. Let’s recap the weekend.

As far as first impressions go, we had 2 opposite sides of the spectrum with the Cubs. On Saturday night, Montgomery made his debut. He came in the bottom of the 8th inning in a 2 run ball game; he was brought in to get the lefty out. This will be his main job. It can only get better from here. 3 run homer is what he served up. Horrible way to start his Cubs career.

Fast forward to Sunday, and Joe Nathan made his Cubs debut. This time it was the bottom of the sixth; this time the Cubs trailed by 3. First batter he faced hit a triple; he followed that up with a walk. At that point, I reached my destination, and got out of the car. I thought, another awesome debut. Unbelievable. But when I saw the highlights, I saw that he proceeded to strike out the next 3 batters. Cubs scored 5 in the 7th and Joe got his first W. Wow.

Onto the south side for a little comedy on Saturday night. This time it wasn’t the results on the field that made the Sox look silly.  Chris Sale was sent home for being a crybaby. He didn’t want to wear the throwback uniforms is what the story was; he cut up all the jerseys…literally.  Thinking this had to do a little bit with the trade rumors flying around; hoping it was more than just a jersey. I can understand why he’d be pissed about the Sox pissing another season away, but as far as the trade rumors, that’s part of the game. Hahn actually said it would be highly unlikely they traded Sale, Quintana, or Anderson. Why are you so butt sore Sale?

Many of the find here now generic levitra online reputed UK based drug stores are offering kamagra online. Males encountering health conditions like heart challenges, levitra samples diabetes, kidney and liver damage. The scientists of this pharmacy recommend their patients to consume this tablet, only when low priced viagra they have sexual arousal. They must also avoid the consumption of alcohol and cigarettes viagra pfizer online also improve cardiovascular health that keeps your blood vessels in good condition and enhances the flow of blood in the penile region. It’s another example of him acting like a brat, like when the Sox dismissed LaRoche and the team leader Drake. Sale whined about that. Now he’s pissed about some uniforms, and about his name mentioned in a trade rumor. Maybe he should be happy about that.  He should be happy about taking his major league best stuff to a playoff contender. At this rate with the Sox, he may never see October baseball; that would be something to be pissed about.

No crying in baseball is what I remember hearing. Man up Chris. Lucky for the Sox he will be back for the final game of the crosstown series. He’ll be back for the biggest game of the season; too bad it’s a few months early.

So there’s a few impressions, some new, one old. What will this week hold?  We may have some news even before the series begins. Rumor has it the Cubs are close to a deal with Chapman. One look at Montgomery and they upped their game. Haha..  I don’t believe that.  I believe the Cubs were going to make another move or two regardless. I’d prefer Miller, but who wouldn’t want Chapman. Yeah, we know about the recent case; no prior history with him, so does he get the benefit of the doubt?  Don’t think many Cubs fans will care. I won’t, as long as he doesn’t mess with the team’s chemistry. And if Theo and corp pull this off, then I know that was considered and firmed up before pulling the trigger.  I’ll be monitoring Twitter throughout the night.

Until then, I’m ready for the Cubs Sox crap talking to begin. I’ll be doing it right here all week long; hopefully after a blog about Aroldis. Stay tuned.

Montgomery has to be better than his Cubs start so far. Nathan should be good too considering his experience.
As for sale, there has to be more to it than just the uniforms…would love to hear what he has to say considering he is usually not shy about expressing his opinions.
Either way, the crosstown classic is upon us. Should be a fun 4 games, usually is regardless of records. GO CUBS GO!!!
