Get outside and enjoy the summer!  We haven’t had much of a summer. 4th of July weekend was really nice. There have been a couple hot days here and there. Yet, it seems like this summer has never really hit. Maybe it’s all the rain we’ve been getting. That does make it tough to do stuff outside. I wonder how many rainouts across the city due to this Seattle like weather. It’s rained almost twice as much as normal this summer.  Finally, it seems like the summer is arriving. Friday was the perfect summer night.

It didn’t start off too well. Driving around the city on a Friday late afternoon is never fun. Listening to the Cubs blow a lead to the worst team in the majors, and losing in extras was not the ideal way to start the weekend.  I guess Motte has been pretty good, so can’t be too mad.  Still, this week where the Cubs should have really made a jump is not turning out that great. Only winning the next two games will give them a 4-3 record this week. Let’s hope they can at least do that.

Stopping for some Goose Island shrimp always puts a smile on my face and that’s exactly what we did.  Goose Island survived for a long time down the street from Cabrini Green. With those projects long gone and a super target near its old spot, this area is changing big time; should be good for the little shrimp house too.  The blocks south of there are changing too. That is where my adventure in the Great Outdoors began.

Now the Chicago river has always been there. I really never knew you could get access to the river over there between Chicago and Division.  This is where our kayak trip down the river began. It’s a lot of fricking work, and for this guy who’s out of shape, it was quite a workout.  Getting in sync with my partner was a challenge too. Turn right, now left… Watch out for that ship, and the side wall, and just when we got it going, bam! Another kayak bumps into us and it starts again. It was a great experience though, and at least we didn’t flip!
For centuries, from tribal traditions to Imperial Courts of China, physicians of old were already prescribing natural herbal remedies to treat kings, emperors and noblemen fromm the scourge of prescription viagra male impotency with very good results. They didn’t use a turkey baster; they did cialis best buy it together for each other. Surveys state that about 15 to 40 millions of people tadalafil prices cheap suffer from this problem But if your treatment is to eradicate the causes of thyroid dysfunction. levitra online pharmacy With inhibition of PDE5 enzyme, the body releases nitric oxide, a chemical that helps boost overall blood flow.
I never knew the amount of restaurants and bars that you can go to with a river view or even with seating right on the banks of the river. Definitely got to take advantage of that before the summer is up. The views from the river were awesome too, especially with the city lit up. The tour itself was really cool, with all the Chicago history with a focus on our underworld.  Do you know the underworld term originated because the city of Chicago had to be raised 15 feet?  Yes, inch by inch, the entire city was raised to prevent all the flooding and deaths caused by this. So, there you have it… Underworld was the world under the city. The grimy, grit, dirty…where the shady stuff went on.

Yes, and yesterday happened to be the 100th anniversary of the worst disaster in Chicago history. No, not the Fire, or St valentines massacre, but a ship wreck that caused the deaths of over 200 people. We were sitting in our kayaks in the river right under wells street where this ship went down. Thankfully, we avoided a similar disaster and made it back to tell about it.

Heard the Sox won too.  Quintana’s first complete game shutout. Not too shabby. But the sports world took a backseat to my personal sporting adventure. That doesn’t happen often, but maybe it should. Get out and enjoy this great city we live in. Get out and do something in the great outdoors. It’s only a few months befor old man winter returns. But hey, even then, you can do it. We’re used to it!
